Mega Man 64

"Capcom could've done MUCH better..."

One day, at the local Blockbuster video store, I couldn't find a single game there to play that I wanted to. But out of the corner of my eye, I saw this game: Mega Man 64. I thought: Wow! This game is supposed to be awesome! So I rented it. What I found out is that this game was very annoying.

Graphics: 8/10
This part wasn't that bad. The graphics are great! Your enemies, have the most intricate looks, as do the buildings. I found, though, that during the movies, they tried to animate their mouths in an anime style. This was a mistake. Their mouths were lagging behind what they were saying, which I thought was pretty stupid.

Story: 2/10
This story was sadder than any story that I ever heard. Simple: They are treasure hunters. They crash on an island which has a legendary treasure. That alone shows how predictable the storyline is. (If you can't figure it out, you are as sad as the story.) Oh, yeah. There are pirates, too.

Control/Camera: 1/10
Crappy. Just plain crappy. With the controls, it takes 5 seconds just to turn around. You'll get hit so fast it'll make your head spin. The camera controls- wait, there are no camera controls. You have to do a slow turn to change your point of view.

Sound: 2/10
Oh my. I've heard better from Quest 64. The music is lame, repetitive, and annoying. I had to mute the sound at all times, except for cutscenes, when I had to blast it at full level. The cutscene voices are literally so low that you can barely hear them. That could be fixed by subtitles, but there are none.

Difficulty: HARD BEYOND HARD
This game is so hard, I had to use a Gameshark to get past the third boss. I suggest you use one. If not, I hope you have fun ''accidentally'' smashing this game with a sledgehammer.

Replayability: 2/5
Very little in this category. I played through this once, and got bored of it. There is little that you can't do on your first time through.

Rent or buy? : If you are an awesome gamer, and love a challenge, buy it. If you have little patience, rent or avoid this game.

Overall: 4/10
In the end, the thing that saved this game from a 2 is the greater graphics. Capcom did WAY below their abilities on this one. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to return this game 3 days early.
