Bomberman 64
Review by Solution 9
"Bomberman explodes onto the N64 in a big way!"
Bomberman 64 is one of the first game's I have ever bought for my Nintendo 64. Personally, I think it definitely is worth the purchase. It's not without it's flaws, but it certainly makes up for them with its fun and addictive gameplay.
Gameplay: You may be a little disappointed too know that Bomberman 64 is nothing like the older games in the series. In the nintendo 64 edition, you actually control bomberman through a series of levels and complete quests and things of that nature. I think if I had a choice, I would choose this style of Bomberman over the old school Bombermans (while the old school games aren't without their charm). The gameplay is very well done, its easy too control bomberman through each of the stages. There are little puzzles, but they aren't very mind boggling. The later levels in this game are very hard, as well, and its a challenge too beat them. The multiplayer mode is probably the best feature in this game. You and 3 friends can play an awesome an exciting death match, where the main objective is too blow your opponent up! Its very fun. You can also have 2 vs 2 matches and handicap matches. Its all up too you.
Visuals: At the time, Bomberman had very nice visuals. The environments are colorful and life like. The graphics aren't bad either, although they won't win any awards, that's for sure. But this is not a problem at all.
Sound: The music is very upbeat and hip, all the time. I love the music for this game, and I wonder if there was ever a soundtrack released for it (probably not, but I can dream). Again, it wouldn't win any awards, but its still nice too hear the exciting music. It suits the game perfectly.
Fun Factor: If this game was a single player only game, I don't think I would have gave it such a high score. The real ''meat'' of the game is in it's exciting, always fun multiplayer mode. Its just so much better when you kill a real person than the computer controlled enemies. But I won't take anything away from the single player mode as well. Its certainly fun, for a while. Once you beat it the first time though, theres no real incentive too go back and play it again.
Replay: Nothing too unlock by beating the single player mode, at least nothing I've found yet. The multiplayer mode has some hidden stages that you may want too uncover, because they are rather interesting too play on. Other than that, though, there is not much too see.
Recommendations: Anyone into adventure games should definitely find this game and purchase it. It's not the best game on the Nintendo 64, but it definitely is not the worst. If your looking for an awesome party game, get this one! It's multiplayer mode is amazing and fun-filled. You'll have a riot, trust me!
This game earns a 9/10! The point was taken away for its low replay
