Flying Dragon
Review by CidHighwindFF7
"Wow... This game goes on and on."
Let me get this straight; I am a tough reviewer.
Okay, this game has two modes Kid Mode and Adult Mode.
Kid mode is in no way for kids, in fact, its more fun than the adult mode. Its a fighter/RPG.
You fight championships to increase your character's level, and get items, the items cure you in battle, act as armor, give attacks, etc. There are two secret characters, and even one (or more) item that opens up stuff in the adult mode. You are greatly rewarded for fighting in the increasingly difficult tournaments by being awarded more items and you get exp every fight, exp makes your items get stronger, and possibly, evolve. Of they evolve, they become a new, enhanced (in most cases) item for you to use. There are over 500, I believe. Also, there are scrolls that give minor secrets away, and '7 Wonders' that give BIG ones away, such as getting more characters. This mode will suck your free time away.
Adult mode is a very challenging pure fighting game. Button mashing gets you nowhere, show some skill! You fight in championships and are graded on your performance. Technical fighting ensues, much faster than that of Tekken (which ruined the genre, In My Opinion, because of it slow speed combined with its popularity), though lacking in moves. I never really spent much time on this mode.
Graphics- 9
Very good. Just about as good as N64 gets.
Playability- 7
Control is a bit difficult, and many situations where you cant avoid an attack, or cant get out will arise. Also, jump control is a big issue. Of course, can you control your jumps mid-air in real life?
Replay Value- 10
Well, the kid mode just keeps going, you'll be searching for the best items for-ever... The adult mode lasts as long as you would expect it to.
Difficulty- 3-10
At the beginning, no biggie, at the end, there's a 'Shin Ryumoau Championship' This is the final boss. You fight improved versions of nearly every character, and then him... three times. He takes on the powers of nearly everything. I had enormous difficulty beating him without cheating.
Storyline- 0
It has none, and does fine without. I don't really know a fighter with a good story, do you?'
Overall- 9
A _very_ solid game with few flaws, and long replay value, and enough secrets to keep you motivated.
