NBA Hangtime

"This is one of the worst basketball games I have ever played"

NBA Hangtime is one of the most boring,ugly that I have ever played. This looks the equivalent of an old SNES game.

Graphics 3/10
This merely looks like a better resolution SNES game. The players are two-dimensional figures rendered on a 2D court that they can move up and across.Even the scoreboard is just a box with numbers in it. The crowd is absolutely horrible,just a bunch of white and black heads bobbing up and down. The player's uniforms are just the team's colors mixed together on a jersey. The Chicago Bulls jersey is just a striped red and black shirt.The players all look strangely alike.Michael looks Shaq,Magic Johnson looks like Kobe. All the players look different only by skin tone(no racism intended). The whole team is just a bunch of guys running around in striped jerseys throwing an orange ball(with no stripes) around. And the guys you can see on the bench look like a whole line of colors with heads on them.

Sound 4/10
The sound is almost as bad as the graphics. Most of the music is just a mindless techno beat that does not even remotely sound like a modern game. The in-game sounds (net swish,buzzer,etc.) is very fuzzy and faded.I had to turn up my TV all the way just to be able to remotely hear it. There are a few voices,but they are like the sound effects,very faded. The only decent sounding voice effect in the game is the ''NBA Hangtime!'' at the title screen. When your player gets knocked down,you hear a mindless grunt that I guess is supposed to sound realistic.

Gameplay 3/10
The gameplay for this is tear-inducing,it's so bad. You don't use the N64 controller's stick,you use the D-Pad. A is jump,B is shoot,but you hardly ever make shots,because somehow,you are'nt ever lined up with the goal. In order to even get a chance to shoot you have to always be moving. When making free throws,the controls are so unrepsonsive you have to be very precise in order to even have a chance of making the goal. Most of the players in the game all play the same despite varying stats. Shaq on the Lakers plays like Shawn Bradley on the Mavericks.

Overall 2/10
This has to be one of the worst basketball games I have ever played,if not ever. There are so many better basketball games out there that have many advanatages over this.

Buy or Rent?
Rent.Do not spend hard-earned money on this game.It is not worth it.
