"Ever get addicted to a soccer game?"

International Superstar Soccer ’98 is definitely a perfect game to waste your time away. It’s that addicting! You don’t even have to be a soccer fan to love this game. Hell, I’m not even one!

Game play:

The game has 54 different teams to choose from and up to four players. The more the better, so then you’ll have more to talk about.

There are many different game modes in the game. You can play an open game which lets you just play a one on one for fun. There’s the International Cup which is a small tournament that is similar to the playoffs. Also the World League which is basically like a regular season. If you’re unsure of yourself in the game, you can always go to the training mode or the penalty kicks section to get some practice it’s usually effective.

In the game they have create a player mode that is pretty interesting. It let’s you choose the name, number and even the face of your character. Nothing special about it, basically the same as other create player modes in other sports games where you can just make a player and put them in the team of your choice. You can build up their skills such as speed, stamina and all those other attributes.

The game is incredibly easy if you’re playing on EASY mode, but incredibly hard on HARD mode. So it would be best to leave it on medium if you’re just getting started with this game.

You’re able to push players down to the ground which is pretty cool, but don’t get too happy with it because you can easily be thrown out of the game. First they give you a yellow flag which is like a warning. Then, the red, which means you’re out.

Story:

Well, there is none obviously. Its just a sports game that’s intended for you to have fun with. You like competition? Then this is a perfect game for you. You might consider the world league the story part because its the season mode. It lets you pick a team and play with them with a regular soccer season and playoffs and etc.

Controlling:

The controlling makes the game really easy to play, as you can use both the directional pad and the joystick to move your players. That’s much more convenient since different people prefer either one.

Graphics:

The graphics are pretty decent. This is N64, what do you expect? Its good for the system. Its not like other video games where they only have about 3 or 4 different faces for players.

Overall:

Well, like I said earlier, its a great game for people who love competition, or soccer. Its definitely worth buying but be warned, the game can be addicting.
