Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
Review by TrueGamer104
"The little plastic toys come to life."
:Introduction:
Growing up playing with the little green plastic army men are cool. But when a game comes out that contain these same little green plastic army men is one of the best things that can happen. Sadly this game could have been a whole lot better. While it keeps the fun and imagination going, it still could have used some improvements.
:Story:
To make it as simple as possible. You play as Sarge, you are sleeping in your bunker when an enemy invasion invades your territory. You start from there being unaware of anything but getting ready to get to the bottom of it. The story is cool for an army men game and gives you reason to play. The story doesn't have to be top of the line. But all in all the story receives an 8.
:Gameplay:
Here is where the game could have used some serious improvements. The 2 biggest flaws in this game that you will notice almost as soon as you start playing is being ambushed by enemies you knew weren't there. You can clean out an area and still have enemies behind your back which gets really annoying and makes it hard because where do they come from?! You can also kill certain enemies and not find others you knew were there, and they would show up when you progress or least expect it. The second flaw is when you are looking through your sniper zoom. Sometimes your view breaks up and makes it hard to determine your shot. Other than those flaws the game is good for everything else. I just want curious gamers to be aware of that because they can be a MAJOR turn off. If you can handle that then you will be fine. The controls are nothing to complain about and in just a matter of seconds (the training course helps) you will be top of your game. Don't get me wrong though, the game is incredibly fun due to it's creativity and challenge. Playing this game brings back the good old memories of playing with the little green plastic men all over again. The gameplay, controls, and fun get a 7.
:Graphics/Sounds:
The graphics are pretty neat and some environments are real (or places you would have played with your army men) Objects break up in the distance occasionally but it's nothing that will bother you or take away from the fun. The game is finely detailed and colorful as it is imaginative. The sounds are very nice to. The cracking sounds of your rifle are crisp and clear and couldn't sound more real. It would be scary to think what would happen if our little plastic army men were to go to war. The graphics and Sounds get a 7.
:Playtime/Re-playability:
The best thing about this game would have to be the SERIOUS challenge. At least this game has what some other games should have. Sadly, some of the challenge is due to the flaws. The good thing is the re-playability in this game is high, while the game has some down slopes, it always remains fun. I give the playtime and re-playability a 7.
:Overall Scores:
Story:8
Gameplay:7
Graphics/Sounds:7
Playtime/Re-playability:7
:Final Word:
Well thats the verdict. I hope you take those flaws into consideration when deciding on buying this game. I myself found a lot of fun with this title and enjoyed it all the way till the end. I hope you found my review useful and thank you for reading.
-Happy Gaming!
