Pokemon Puzzle League
Review by Pokejedservo
"One of the best Pokemon games ever made. (And its also a nice treat to fans of Prima/Lorelai/Kanna.)"
Ah yes Pokemon Puzzle League truly one of THE best Pokemon games ever made IMO. Aside from the also quite great Pokemon Snap this is probably my fave. Pokemon Stadium was by all means a good game but it really wasn't THAT great IMO. Yeah its a Pokemon-styled Tetris Game. But its utilizes the Tetris gameplay here QUITE well and it has plenty of modes & the like to make it more unique instead of just a ''clone''. It has plenty of modes such as training, storyline and even a specialized mode where you get to go against Team Rocket and more. The only real flaw it has in the game is that the difficulty can be rather uneven on how easy to hard it is. It has quite the nice variety of characters from the series in this game.
One nice little bonus it has is that it has Lorelai (A.K.A Prima) and considerably underrated young woman whose despite her small utilization in Pokemon she suprisingly has a sturdy fanbase. (Like yours truly here, heck if she was in the anime series more. She might've joined the ranks of DBZ's Trunks and Ranma 1/2's Shampoo for example as highly lusted after young purple-haired anime characters.) It was QUITE the nice novelty that she was actually in it. And for those who like her it can be good for those who like her for her beautiful grace and/or keen intellect and/or ''Dead or Alive''-like bodily shape and large breast size. (So yeah unlike most of the young women in Pokemon she is actually quite well-endowed and her already short skirt here shows a bit more of her hindquarters. So lets just say they are trying to make her look sexier here which certainly may appeal to certain gamers.) In the anime she was rather laid back but with a good keen intellect. But here she is actually rather flirty and she considers Ash to be quite the cutie. And of course when she says ''I'm gonna take you down'' will probably sound like a double entedre to some of the more perverted gamers who like to take certain things out of context for amusing purposes. (So yes once again Brock has ANOTHER reason to be absolutely crazed in envy other Ash's freakishly high luck with the ladies. You gotta pity a guy on whom a dopey 10 yr. old boy is more likely to get laid let alone anything else than you are. But you admire him on how he could've handled his lack of luck a LOT worse but thats a different story.) Her role in this game isn't large but its there. Some fans (namely her more female fans) might be awfully offended on how she is more trying to utilize her sex appeal here. But its nothing too far (trust me if they REALLY wanted her to utilize her sex appeal a lot more then they by all means would've). However it is still unfortunate on how this is for the most part the only game on which she'll be particularly in. (Aside from the initial Pokemon games of course but I'm a bit more talking about her TV series counterpart here.) And sadly the chances of her being in any other games are awfully slim. So at least we Prima/Lorelai/Kanna (her name in the Japanese Version of the anime series) have this to enjoy her in.
But still aside from all of this, this Tetris game is still one of the best Pokemon games ever made. Its a fun game and a very good reason to have the N64 (among all sorts of very plentiful other reasons).
+ One of the best Pokemon games ever made
+ It utilizes its Tetris gameplay quite well
+ Its got PLENTY of intresting modes
+ Its style is what makes it different over other Tetris games.
+ It has Lorelai (A.K.A Prima) in it
- It may seem overly simple at times while it may seem overly difficult as well.
- Its quite possibly for the most part the only Pokemon game to have Lorelai (A.K.A Prima) significantly in it at all.
