"Better control & gameplay slightly alleviates it above "Mega Man Legends" in this rather underrated game."

Mega Man 64, the Nintendo 64 remake of the known PSX game ''Mega Man Legends''. How does it fare against its Sony Counterpart? Pretty darn well actually... The control is substantially better than the PSX version which is certainly a improvement on gameplay as well. Aside from the improvement in control is there all that much difference between the 2 versions? No, not really...

Fortunately plenty of what made the original a good game is still here. The Voice Acting is QUITE top notch and this game quite possibly has the best voice-acting in just about ANYTHING particularly related to Mega-Man. The music is just fine and the storyline sets itself up rather well. So this basically is a good (if not occasionally better) port of the game that keeps its good quality intact. One other small advantage is that the save system is better here. I have no hatred towards using Memory Cards but the good old-fashioned battery memory save system that this version has works better IMO.

However the flaws in MML are still here for the most part. The Graphics are STILL way too blocky and it can get a bit frustrating at times as well. And in all honesty while this game isn't hard to find nor is it terribly overpriced Mega Man Legends will most likely be easier to find & buy. And unless you either mainly prefer N64 games and/or have a N64 but not a PSX/2. (And the amount of such people are awfully small.) Chances are you'll most likely get the PSX version over this N64 gem. But still this is quite the recommendable game for your N64 and is just simply quite a fun game. Not much more, not much less...

+ Better & smoother controls & gameplay than the PSX version (titled ''Mega Man Legends'').
+ The fact that you can regularly save your game here in plenty of empty slots is a VERY nice bonus
+ The sound & music and of course storyline from the PSX original do remain their good quality
+ Its not a terribly hard to find game.
- This is only a VERY minor improvement over the original
- It has most of the flaws that the original has such as really weak and overly blocky graphics
- It'll only really benefit those who have a N64 but not a Playstation and/or a Playstation 2 (which are few and far between.)
