"A decent game, but too many flaws."

Well. All-Star Baseball 2000. A fun game, but, there are so many glitches in this game. The controls are good, good indeed. Better then good. The audio is also very well done, the music enjoyable and appropriate (for the situations in which it is played) and the sound is realistic. I will now move on to the aspects of this game.

Gameplay: 7/10

The gameplay! Well, the pitching system is well done. The pitches are realistically created. The Pitch Aid option should be left ON if you don't want it to be too hard, OFF if you really want a challenge. The fielding is easy to control and so is the base running, though it can get a bit difficult, but not too badly. However, there are some glitches. The fielders automatically tag. No, that's not a glitch. Oftentimes, the fielders take a long time to tag. I mean they catch it, stand there for about a full second, then bend down and tag. Oftentimes, the runner, who should've been out, is safe. A type of head-first slide by runners is absolutely horrible. One time, while viewing an Instant Replay, I saw the ball displayed under the ground. Hmm. Fielders can dive very far, and Instant Replays show that at one time they warped. Wow. The base runners sometimes slow down and stop on first base instead of running through the bag. Therefore, the gameplay gets a good 7 out of 10.

Controls: 10/10

Excellent. I cannot think of a better way to lay out the controls then they are already laid out. Pitching and hitting are both simple, and so is fielding and base running, but not too simple. Therefore, the controls gets a perfect 10 out of 10.

Audio: 9/10

The music is good, so is the sound. However, the music could be better, as music always can. Therefore, the audio gets an excellent 9 out of 10.

For this particular game, I can think of no more aspects that are significant enough to examine.

Gameplay: 7/10
Controls: 10/10
Audio: 9/10
Total: 26/30
Decision: 7/10

Rent or Buy?: Tough to say. If you are a big baseball fan, this should satisfy your needs. The Cardinals roster includes Carlos Baerga, whom the Cardinals never actually signed. People who really like baseball may not like this. If you are just a person who likes to play a baseball game now and then, I would say get a different one. One that comes later in the All-Star Baseball series.

Thank you.
