Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2
Review by namod65
"Come on 3DO, you can do better then this"
Intro
Wow another Army Men game, what a surprise. There are so many of these games for Playstation and Nintendo. I don’t even think I could name them all. This game is the sequel to Army Men Sarge’s Heroes. I own both of the games and let me say up front that the first game was so much better then this game. As for this game, all the same characters are back with Sarge, Vikki, Grimm, Plastro and all of the Bravo Company. Plastro is back and is trying to get rid of the green army who is trying to keep peace. I think that is enough for an intro and now on to the game.
Gameplay: 6/10
This game is not very hard. Though it is a averaged length game. The game kind of in my opinion starts off to fast. With the first level being a open level with lots of enemies and helicopters flying around it could of had a better first level. It is not a very fun game. The first game had better levels that were more fun because they were more towards the “stealth” kind of play. This game could have used more of those levels to make the game more fun. I think they should have kept the controls the same as the first game. These controls are hard to adjust to after you have been playing the first game. Honestly, these controls don’t make much sense. Since when do you have “A” as the button to fire. Most first person shooting games used “Z” as the button to fire.
Story: 8/10
A pretty good story for a game about plastic men. So here is what is happening. After Plastro’s deafet in the first game he is now suffering from a disease called “plastrification”. This is when to much time is spent in the real world from the plastic world. You will grow a plastic base at your feet and freeze. This is good except that Dr. Madd of the Gray Nation has developed a serum to hold off the disease. Briggete Bleu of the Blue Resistance wants to bring Plastro back to life. After she succeeds in bringing the serum to Plastro, he uses the serum to bring other large toys to live. He is now using them to take over the Green Nation. The greens must stop this. This is were you come in.
Graphics/Sound 3/10
Maybe it’s because I have a Gamecube now but the graphics in this game are not very good at all. Everything is kind of fuzzy. As for the sound, it may be better to mute your tv. It will get really annoying after a while. 3DO obviously did not spend much time with the sound or the music. I mean just listen to the music at the menu. It does not sound like your typical music for a game menu.
Playing time/re playability 5/10
This game will not take you very many day’s to beat. If you are a HUGE fan and I mean you have to be a HUGE fan of Army Men games, you will want to play this game over and over. Others, who were just looking for a good first person shooter will not want to play this game many times after they beat it. I know I didn’t really feel like playing this game after I beat it.
Overall 5/10
Overall I say this game is only good for renting it. If you are looking for a
first person shooter game to rent for a week, rent this game. DO NOT waste your money on this game. It is good for renting, just not buying. Trust me, it will be sitting in your closet after you beat it.
I think that is about it. I hope you found this review helpful.
