"Arcade Gaming with Hardly Any Secrets"

Well I got this game a long time ago and now I'm playing through all my video games and writing reviews on them. This game isn't all that special if you're not a Mortal Kombat fan. The graphics aren't even that great if you're even for the Nintendo 64. Now onto the review.

Story: Story...hmmmm....The story is that this Shao Kahn demon is trying to take over the world using brute force. You battle through each character's different storyline which each is plain and simple. The game features hardly anything in this category unless you count beating up some guy from the medieval times heart-warming (which I do.) Now on to gameplay.

Gameplay: The gameplay is like any other Mortal Kombat game. Defeat your opponent using various attacks like Lui Kang's bicycle kick or Kitana's fan attack. This game features ''Okay who are you? I don't care let's beat the crap out of each other.) You press and hold R to block, hold down L and move toward your opponent to run, A for low punch, B for high punch, C- right for low kick, and C-up for high kick. That's simple enough that even a little kid could master it in five minutes! The gameplay is kind of clunky though. Like if you run toward your opponent you can keep running until the end of the course and then you just run into the wall (Heh I love doing that.) There are many fatalities though now that's where the game really shines at. I love to see Reptile eat people but it's kinda gross when he eats a guy. The game has no loading times which is a major flaw in the Playstation version. The difficulty is alot easier even on Very Hard. Jade is just too good since she can block and counerattack against most anything with her boomerang, transparent blend thingamajig and her deadly stick. That girl got some legs though lol. Anyways that's basically it in the gameplay department that meets the eye.

Challenge: Well let me tell you something. There isn't hardly any challenge with just about any character. If you work at it you can work through all the fatalities, babalities and such. It's just kind of fun until that first half hour has past. This game is just boring after awhile. Did I mention that this game is easy on even Very Hard!? I mean c'mon why have the difficulty setting if it hardly gets any harder. I can get a flawless victory on almost every fight easily and I haven't even played the game in about 5 years! Hmmm that's okay nothing a little garage sale can't fix :)

Replay Value: Nothing and I mean nothing. Unless you're really bored and decide to do everyone's brutality which sucks if you slip up just a little and the dude (or chick) falls on the ground when you finally hit the right button. MY point is it's just not worth the hastle. Oh well like I said nothing a little garage sale can't fix. Oh man I wish I could get back my sixy dollars I spent on this trash.

Final Verdict: This game is just plain awful. That's just too bad that this game is going to end up either sold to some kid or stuck way way way back (even behind Pokemon Stadium) in my gaming library. My advice is if you find it cheap at some pawn shop go buy it but otherwise it's not worth your time.
