NFL Blitz 2001

"The Best Blitz Game Ever"

Introduction- I'm writing this review in January of 2004 but I still think that NFL Blitz for the Nintendo 64 beats any arcade style football game of today. Its graphics might not be as good or stuff like that but that's what made the game so much fun.

Gameplay/9-10/ The computer in the game isn't that hard to beat but playing against friends is the best part of the game by far. In the game you can play up to four players (two on each team)which is always fun. The controls in the game are very easy to learn and are very responsive. The only bad part of the gameplay is when you will get a 50 yard run and it will give you a -57 yard loss (a very weird glitch in the game).Overall the gameplay is great because of the easy gameplay and the great multi player.

Graphics/9-10/ The graphics aren't the greatest for this game but do not need to be. They have all the regular stadiums for each team that look ok and the player don't look that great but the tackles they make do. Overall the graphics are pretty good but the games arcade style doesn't need to have as good of graphics as games such as Madden 2001 to make them fun.

Sound/7-10/ The sound of tackles in the game are great and the sounds of the players getting hit after the plays is always sweet. The reason I gave a 7 for the sound is because of the announcers in the game. They will say the wrong things at the wrong times. For example they will say and here's the kick and you will score a touchdown or it will be a kick off and they will say first down. Overall tackles good and commentary bad.

Value/10-10/ This game is worth getting and will be fun to play anytime you are looking for sweet arcade style football. It includes create a play and you can play a season mode if you like. The game doesn't really ever get boring but just keeps getting better as you play. That's about all I can say, BUY IT!

Overall- The game has great gameplay and is fun to play with a bunch of friends. There is also a season mode which is fun but I recommend playing multi player rather than that. You may want to rent the game first but it is definitely worth buying or at least playing. This is still a better game than the Playstation 2's Blitz 2001 etc. BEST ARCADE FOOTBALL GAME YET!
