Road Rash 64
Review by Falco777
"Best Road Rash game, ever!!!"
Intro:
Road Rash has come a long way over the years. However, this Road Rash is the absolute best so far! I have played other Road Rash games in the past and they were great; Road Rash 64 greatly surpasses them all with little effort.
There are definitely more weapons in this game ranging from a standard tire iron and baseball bat to a sledge hammer and even a tazer. There are an assortment of bikes to choose from with their speeds and performance dependent on the level (not stage) you play on. As for the stages, there aren't any! Road Rash 64 has instead a big world contains different places ranging from city areas to scenic routes that are all connected. Rather than stages, you play on specific parts of the world.
Graphics/Sound:
The graphics, compared to the next-gen consoles, are not the best thing to look at but it's the best I've ever seen in a Road Rash game period. It looks fair and decent, and you can clearly see everything you want to see.
As for the audio, it's okay, unless you don't like rock or something. If thats the case, you can mute the music. There is a lot of things to be heard while playing this game. Besides the music, you can hear the person you kicked into the wrong side of the street get smashed into a vehicle, or the sound of your chain whipping your opponent right in their face. Trust me, the sound is nothing to complain about.
Story:
Story? what story? Basically, you drive in races and compete for first place and the cash and being the best biker around. You win by any means necessary; however, if you want, you can join one of two motorcycle gangs: The Thrashers who like wearing flashy colored clothing and have a preference for sports bikes; or the Rumblers who prefer to ride cruiser type bikes and like ganging up on the competition. You choose which gang you want to join, IF you want to join. If you join a gang, you have to pay an entry fee(which is not too expensive). Also the gang you join will have your back if you tangle with a rival gang or solo racer. If you don't join a gang, then it's you against everybody else, which is usually harder.
Gameplay,Controls and Replayability:
The controls for this game can't be remapped; however, it's perfect the way it is.
The gameplay for this game is the reason why I still play it and love it. If you play by yourself, the game has enough to satisfy your needs for wanting to smack or kick somebody in the middle of a turn. But if you have friends over, prepared to play this for a while as it is very entertaining. There is even special multiplayer stages to play in with different game modes for hours of pummeling your friends. Even if you beat the game, you can still have a great time playing this game as you can play multiplayer or if you want, any part of the singleplayer races as well as some extra races as many time as you want.
Final Recommendation:
If you ever liked the Road Rash series, then you really should pick this up. Of course, even with the GC/PS2/Xbox games out, I still recommend buying and trying this game (search those bargain bins at your local gaming store) because it's worth it and it's very fun to play.
