Resident Evil 2

"This is a CLASSIC Survival Horror game!"

This is a review for Resident Evil 2 for the Nintendo 64. Before the Nintendo 64 died out, a great game came out for it. It had been in development for the longest time because it was a BIG challenge to fit 2 CDs worth of a game (I am talking about the Playstation version), but when it came out, a flawless port of an already classic game for the Playstation. Even in some ways the Nintendo 64 version improved on the Playstation one. So be surprised and be wowed as the Nintendo 64 version of Resident Evil 2 takes over your Nintendo 64!

Graphics: (9) Graphics are a big important part in video games. This is no different as the clunky cartridge was able to squeeze 2 CDs worth of stuff including the graphics onto ONE, count it, ONE cartridge. I was surprised and scared at the same time to see if everything that the Playstation portrayed was on this one. I was right. All the character models in this game are just above what is in the Playstation version. Even the backgrounds look better, and I just loved it.

Sound: (8) Sound on a cartridge never comes out too well, but in Resident Evil 2, you can hear everything as if you have a Playstation controller in your hand. The standard saying when you begin the game, "RESIDENT EVIL" is there with a deeper more demented voice. All the voice-acting in the game is translated well and you would even think that this game was meant for the Nintendo 64. I liked the in-game music because it put me into the mood to play such a fantastic game.

Game Play: (10) Everything the original Resident Evil offered, Resident Evil 2 has and more. You are pitted against hordes of zombies and other creatures. Different weapons you are given to stop what is going to be an adventure your never going to forget. A lot of re-playability with the addition of not one but two mini-games which are the Hunk Scenario and the Tofu Scenario. Both mini-games are ALL action and no puzzles which is perfect for the half an hour you will be playing these mini-games.

Storyline (If any): (10) Quite possibly the best Resident Evil story. Explains everything that happens after the disastrous events that happened in Resident Evil. You can either choose to be Leon or Claire in which you battle creatures of all kinds. Such suspense is in here, and you will love this story! Though you won't meet any new familiar faces from the past Resident Evil, though it establishes what a Resident Evil game needs: New virus, New enemies, New weapons. So don't miss out on this story!

Summary: (9.25) If you still own a Nintendo 64, and want some Survival Horror in your life, get this game. Shouldn't be no more than $10 now. You want to be scared, play this game at night with nobody in the room and your going to love this game!
