Mischief Makers
Review by Brak
"Underrated"
Many people thought Mischief Makers was bad. I thought it was a pretty fun game filled with silliness and quirkiness. You play a robotic maid named Marina that must save her master (Prof. Theo) from the dangers of planet Clancer.
Graphics: 8/10
For a 2D game, the graphics are pretty. Everything is bright and cheery, and all the inhabitants of planet Clancer have a strange look on their face similar to a totem pole or something. The backgrounds are pretty as well.
Sound: 7/10
Most of the sound effects go well with such a strange game, yet some of the music gets too happy at times, and can drive you to the edge of insanity at really frustrating parts. The grunts from the clancers are pretty weird, but a game like this can get away with that. Man, this has gotta be one of the weirdest games ever!
Challenge: 7/10
You can easily speed through most of the levels, but each level contains a gold gem for you to find. Some of them are out in the open, while others take some time and thought. Also, it can be realllly hard to beat some of the bosses without getting hit. The end boss at Level 3 is proof of that! I can't believe I dodged all of Lunar's missles and slashes!
Gameplay: 8/10
Certainly not the best side-scroller I've ever played, but it sure is fun! The concept of tossing your enemies instead of punching them makes the game interesting, not to mention those magic pots and Clanballs. Some of the levels are really fun, like Clanball Land and The Day Of.
Overall: 8/10
At a time when people began to think 2D was ''obsolete,'' Mischief Makers showed us (or at least us that played it) that it will never die out.
