"Ever wanted a game with wackiness and confusion? Well this is one of them."
As I walked into a video store, I decided to try out a game called Glover. As always, I rented this for 2 days. Now, on the second day of my rental, I took it back, and I must say that this just happens to be a game so confusing it almost looked like the glove had a huge world to see, wondering in his mind, ''Hmmmm......what do I do with this ball? Er, crystal?''
Plot: 3 A wizard mixes the wrong potions (What an idiot!) and turns himself to stone. His magical gloves fly off, and one lands on the ground, while the other lands in a pot of evil. He then scatters the crystals, but the good glove turns them into balls.
Now, there is something wrong with this plot.
1. Why did that idiot mix potions? Can't he see which potions go together and which don't go together?
2. Where did that cauldron of evil come from?
3. Now, I understand the rubber balls (Since he doesn't want the crystals broken), but can't he just grab the ball, make a portal, and take the crystals back himself?
4. Can't the glove make new crystals (Unless they can't be made from magic) or bring them back magically?
Okay, now that the plot's out of the way, let's continue.
Graphics: 3 Why 3? The polygons stuck out like sore thumbs on most of the characters! Honestly, they look like someone stuck pins and needles in their bodies! This makes a stick figure cartoon worth watching! Glover and the balls are animated real good, however, as well as his movements.
The backgrounds and foregrounds aren't bad either, they just need a little more work.
Sound: 7 Very nice! Some songs are guaranteed to stick in your head for a while, others, um, next track, please! *Changes track on CD player*
Also, the sound effects are very wacky, not to mention the voices. I had no idea he has such a voice like this! I mean, if the ball falls off a cliff, or it pops, he'll scream like some kind of maniac that I'll laugh my head off. However, you have to give them credit for some realistic sounds and everything. However, they do get annoying after a bit.
Gameplay: 4 Now, this game is very confusing. I mean it, the puzzles are too tricky to solve and the bosses are too hard to beat, not to mention the fact that if something bad happens to the ball (Which is really a crystal) you'll be going crazy. And let's not forget that when you're done with a puzzle, another one immediately comes in, right when you think the torture is over.
The bosses? Please don't get me started on those. Let me say this......Did it ever take you one hour or more to beat the first boss of this game? Well, that's what happened to me. In fact, that's how hard this game is!
And you'll easily get lost, too. Trust me, this is no walk in the park (Especially Central Park)! They may appear short, but in reality, they are so huge it almost looked like some microchips were took out of the Expansion Pak and somehow managed to stick them in the cartridge! Now, if we can only we can improve the graphics and everything else with this baby......
In short, this game is so hard and confusing you'll be screaming ''I GIVE UP!!!'' from the top of your lungs after you finish the first realm (In this case, level) and break all the glass windows in your house.
Rent or Buy: Rent, but don't buy. As I said eariler, it's too confusing, plus you'll have trouble with the controls.
Replay Value: 1 Once you beat this, you'll scream with joy and put it in a place where you'll never beat it again, or take it back to the store. Of course, there's boredom, but that means you'll have to be desperate to do anything.
Overall: 7 This is because the children will enjoy this will all their heart, that's why I gave it a 7. If you're one of the younger crowd, a fan of platform games, or one of the few people who love to get lost in a huge area, this is your game.
