007: The World is Not Enough
Review by iammaxhailme
"A good game with major flaws."
So far, the last James Bond game made from a movie. It's no Goldeneye, but it's not bad at all. Anyway...
This game has pretty much the same general storyline as the movie. There was a kidnapping in the past, and the kidnapped woman actually started working with the kidnapper on a terrorist thing, and you have to kill them all, just like in the movie. I'm not going to put in a big story section; I don't want to spoil it for you, even though there's not much to spoil.
GAMEPLAY: 9/10
In gameplay, this game's just as good as Goldeneye, maybe better. In my opinion, a lot of single player aspects of this game is better then Goldeneye. For example, a lot of the weapons have second functions, like you can take off a silencer. In Goldeneye, the silenced pistol and the "loud" pistol were two completely different weapons. This game doesn't have a lot of weapons compared to Goldeneye, though, but there's a lot more gadgets. Like here, you have a watch, which has an electric stunner, sleeper darts, lock - cutting laser, and a grappling hook. Some of the levels are different, too. You don't get all the objectives at once; they come when you need to know them. There's also one level where you have to sneak around and tap phones and stuff. In Goldeneye, there was just going around shooting the right people, so this game has a little more thinking in it. There are also night vision goggles, stuff like that. There's more talking and dialogue, too. Another quite noticeable difference, while it doesn't really matter, is that in Goldeneye, every gun took about half a second to reload. Here, it actually changes depending on the gun.
The multiplayer isn't as good as Goldeneye or many other shooting games. Unlike GE, this game has AI bots that you can use in Multiplayer. There's about the same amount of levels as in Goldeneye, but they're usually not as big. Like I said before, there are not as many weapons, but you don't use them all at the same time in either game. Also, in multiplayer in this game, doors, elevators, etc, actually work. The fighting isn't as good in this game, though. It's harder to aim up and down, because you need to hold the R button to look up or down, because in this game, C up and down jump (Which wasn't in GE) and duck, which has a different button in GE. But still, this game's multiplayer isn't bad at all. There are a lot of weapons that make it fun, for example, there's a laser guided rocket launcher, and an assault rifle that can also use grenades, stuff like that.
There are two very big flaws that this game has, though. For one, it's very short. If you're good at first person shooters, you can probably beat this game in 3 or 4 hours. There's not as many levels as there were in Goldeneye, and most of them aren't as long as the others, even though like I said before, you need to think more in this game. The other big flaw is one that murders many games: THE BSS. Bad saving system! You need a separate memory block for the controller to save in this game, which is (or was) expensive.
Graphics: 8/10
This game's good for graphics, too. The people are a bit more largely pixilated then they are in a lot of games, but the guns and other things look realistic. A lot of the levels are kind of dark, though, but I think it's supposed to be that way. Also, key objects, like phones to tap, are flashing. That's a new thing which happens in most new games.
Music/SFX: 8/10
This game's just like every rare game, for music. Not much speech, lots of violin and xylophone. The guns sound similar to each other, too, if they are. Obviously a rocket explosion sounds different then a pistol shot, etc. When there actually is speech, though, it's clear and you can tell what they're saying. If not, there are subtitles anyway.
