Mystical Ninja starring Goemon
Review by nld200xyz
"Great game but freakishly underrrated"
This is the greatest game ever and it's the main reason I wish I still had an N64. I spent a long time trying to finish this game, but I absolutely loved the whole thing.
Introduction: It all started with an amazing SNES game in which Goemon was known as "Kid Ying". Now we get to experience Goemon in 3D in a beautiful environment.
Gameplay: The most awesome gameplay to meet the gaming universe! It's full of colour and there are so many forms of gameplay. At times, you get sniper vision when playing as Impact. You get a common 3D gameplay when using Goemon and his pals, and the enemies are the most creative you'll ever see, accept the big-nosed enemies that look like Mr. Saturns. It seems very simple, but in reality, the simplicity of it all makes it hard and unexpected and full of surprises. It always keeps you on your toes. In fact, it's so brilliantly portrayed, you'll assume you were playing an RPG. The only thing that's not quite creative is the fact that it kinda rips off Zelda. In the castles, you walk around and collect keys. Each key opens a certain door. Also, some enemies drop healing items. (Dumplings) You need a particular key in order to fight the boss, which is always big and leaves behind a key item and an extra heart, or in this case, cat statue. In order to get some of the keys, you must defeat all the enemies in a room. It's rare that this will come up, but it happens. Although, the best thing about all castles is the fact that they all contain new weapons. In fact, it gets better. Unlike Zelda, you can go back after a long time has past and see new stuff just waiting for you to claim. That's always a good thing when you cn come back and claim more in the future. In fact, I got the meatsaw hammer 5-7 hours before I was supposed to! Imagine that. ^^ But, the best feature in this game is the one simple thing no other game has ever attempted! You'll never see another game out there with a laughtrack! The laughs always come up at good times and the humor is absolutely incredible!
Story: It all starts when Goemon and Ebisumaru are kicked out of their favorite restaraunt because Ebisumaru takes off almost every article of clothing that he wears. Suddenly, a flying spaceship that looks like a giant cupcake flies overhead. It's Goemon and Ebisumaru's job as nosy "heroes" to see what's up. Along the way, they realize that the villains are two amazingly talented singers/dancers who plan on destroying Japan. For spoilers sake, I won't tell you how Goemon and his friends do it, but after they kick the bad guy's butt, they end up getting beaten up by rapid fangirls who are clearly pissed off at them for ruining their chances of seeing the legendary song and dance troup.
Graphics/Sound: Graphics are the utmost beautiful you will ever lay eyes upon! It's full of colour and majesty. You just can't turn your eyes away from it! Are the graphics better than that of Super Mario 64, home of the first decent graphics to hit video gaming? Heck yes! Are they better than the graphics of Rayman 2 and Donkey Kong 64? Yes! Are they better than the graphics of the underappreciated Mischeif Makers? Sadly, no, but they come very close. Plsu, it's so nice to see a hot girl who isn't skimpy or too strong for her own good. As for sound, music is amazing, no questions asked. This is the best music you'll ever hear. And, for the first and last time, Impact has theme music that just plain rox!
Play Time/Playability: It may seem short, but it's surprisingly very long if you get my drift. If you're the kind of person who rushes through game, it may take a good 4 hours and 30 minutes, but if you play it right and enjoy it, it could take a long time. Play time really can't be determined for a game like this, but it's not a short game like everyone thinks it is. Between castles, there are a series of quests and sidequests that could make it take a really long time for some. But it's so wonderful, you'll want to play it again and again even after you beat it. You can beat it twenty times and still like it.
Final Recommendation: If you're suspicious, rent it first. If you're into long adventure games, buy it! Don't be suspicious! You don't need to rent this masterpiece before you can enjoy it. Just go to the nearest store and buy it. Ask questions later.
