Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck
Review by nabuch
"one of N64's best is a rental only, no way"
Duck Dodgers is one of N64's best titles this year. This was the most fun I've had with a game in quite some time, the only knocks I can give it are for camera and length, now on with the particulars.
CAMERA- 6/10 The problem here is that when you're in close quarters or near walls, the camera zooms in, otherwise, the camera is very good. Changing the camera angles is very easy and instinctive.
GRAPHICS- 8/10 The graphics are a mixed bag ranging from good to fantastic with no slowdown or pop up.
SOUND- 6/10 The music is O.K. but nothing memorable. Daffy's voice and comments are, good but too much repetition of the same things.
CONTROLS- 9/10 The control is very instinctive, and camera movement is excellent and wow can this duck jump.
GAMEPLAY- 9/10 The gameplay is deep with much to do spread over some 68 levels and 6 or 7 bosses. There's first person shooting, standard platforming, exploration, etc. You won't be bored doing the same things over and over.
REPLAY VALUE- 3/10 There is some replay to find all 100 atoms, but they're not that hard too find, and can be accomplished the first time through, thus giving you no reason to replay at all.
VALUE- 7/10 The game should only take 15-20 hours for a perfect score, but since this is a rental only title until either Aug. 15 or Sept.15 that's pretty much value for $5. If you can't finish it in 5 days you need another hobby.
DIFFICULTY- 6/10 Some atoms are rather difficult too get while others are incredibly easy. You never feel that the game is too easy, but you never get frustrated by it's difficulty either.
FINAL COMMENTS- One would have to question the decision to make this a rental only. In my area the Blockbuster's only have one copy, and Hollywood only two. Lot's of luck trying to get it, but hurry and try or you'll miss out on a great experience.
