"Good game ruined by the lack of save points."

Ok, this game could've been a classic, it could have been one of the most awesome games on N64. But unfortunately some serious errors hold it back.

Graphics: 10/10

For the N64 it has the best graphics of all the games I remember playing. It is very detailed and this is without the expansion pack by the way, if I had it it would probably be much better, but even as it is, it's awesome. It sort of looks post-N64/pre-Dreamcast.

Audio: 7/10

Music puts you in the mood of the game, but it can get old fast. Especially since the levels are very long. The dino squeals are good too, but again, they get old since the levels are very long.

Controls: 7/10

While the controls aren't too bad, aiming suffers unless you're using auto aim. maybe it's because I stink at aiming, but with the look spring I find it hard to keep steady on a target and when i turn it off I can't keep it steady either. Also, you will need to switch back and forth between using the auto aim and turning it off. In most cases, keep it on, but with sniping turn it off, because you can try to hit them off guard, you have a nice head shot, but if you turn the auto aim on it may miss or not hit where you want it to.

Game play: 5/10

As I said, the levels are LONG. Very long. Sometimes hours long. While there are save points, there are very few. Last night I played River of souls and I started with the 2nd save point and I kept going...and going...and going...I played for an hour and a half blowing stuff up and all, and still no new save point, this makes the game play suffer a lot. While long levels are not a bad thing, the fact that it mixes with a shortage of save points ruins the game. Also, to advance you need to check every nook and cranny in the level to get level keys, weapons, and to finish objectives. This can get very annoying and can make the game even longer, and since it's hard to save your progress, you probably willg vie up on finding a save point and get bored witht he game. Other than that, it's pretty cool, it's very fun to kill the dinosaurs and the weapons are very cool. If you get this, the cheat mode will keep you more entertained since you can go through different levels and stuff and just goof around killing things. It's still fun to pick up sometimes, but unfortunately I can't beat the game or go to the later levels without cheats because I dont feel like playing for hours on end to reach a save point. Yes, I overkill this fact but it's rather annoying. The monsters are good, some are easy, some are tough, some are hard to get to. Different weapons work best on different monsters.

Overall, it's a very good game, but the lack of save points ruins it a lot.
