Review by Zylo the wolf

"The best in the series, and one of the best games that SNK has ever done."

The Metal Slug series is one of the best "Run and Gun" series that has ever been released. But the real reason why the Metal Slug series stands out so much is because it's one of the few non fighting series that has ever been released on SNK's system Neo-Geo. Almost every game in the series features fast 2D action with excellent an Co-op mode, which is why the series also is really popular in arcades all over the world. Metal Slug 3 was the last one in the series which was created but SNK before they got bought up by Playmore.

General Morden has now been missing for awhile and his followers have split up all over the world. Our four Heroes: Marco, Eri, Tarma and Fio, must once again fight to stop this armies. However this time it's more than just regular soldiers that needs to be killed. Octopuses and Zombies are just a few things that stands in our heroes way. And just when it looked like this couldn't get any worse the aliens from Metal Slug 2 return to once again try to take over the world.

The gameplay is somehow really similar to the previous Metal Slug games. It's still one button to fire your destructive weapons, one button to jump and hopefully avoid the bullets from the enemy, and one button to throw explosive bombs, and yes the civilians that will give you more powerful weapons are still here to be rescued.

However there are a few big improvements than just more enemies, weapons and vehicles (My personal favourite of the new is the big elefant). Now our heroes has to do underwater missions or even fly in space with their own space suit and jet pack and all of the sudden the game changes from being a "Run and Gun" game to a "Shoot Em Up", with this sudden changes, it makes this game more fun to play than the previous games in the series.

Another thing that's great about this game is that it's more challenging than the previous Metal Slug games. While you still died if you took any hit in the previous Metal Slug games, some of the transformations in this game is way worse to get transformed into than the ones in Metal Sug 2, and the boss fights are way more clever yet harder.

Metal Slug 3 created new dimensions in the gameplay and still kept the great fast actions that the previous Metal Slug titles had. Just like every other Metal Slug game, this is very fun to play alone, but it's a total blast to play it with a friend.
