"There's a reason why sidescrolling beat-em ups have lost their appeal."
Burning Fight was just another slapped together rush job. Final Fight was a rare exception, because it was new. This is just pathetic. Years after Final Fight and they still keep trying to publish the same crap over and over. They refused to change even back then. At least have innovative level designs, or a choose your own path like Brawl Brothers and Peace Keepers tried to do on the Super Nintendo. Also, there's something wrong with the gameplay and the difficulty level as well which doesn't help this ''Game that Time Forgot'' as the other person who reviewed this game put it.
Gameplay[1]
When you hit a person one time it counts as one hit right? Why the hell when you punch them twice in one attack it only registers as one hit? The animation shows the character who looks exactly like Guy on Final Fight as punching twice, but you will hit the enemy once. The guy who looks just like Cody on Final Fight kicks twice but only hits once. Ridiculous! It throws the flow of the game off. If I were Capcom, I would've sued this company for copyright infringement. It is so obvious they ripped off Final Fight, and what's the deal with the second boss who looks just like Hulk Hogan? Were they that desperate for ideas they had to go rip off proffessional wrestling and Final Fight? Another problem with the game was that the bosses were impossibly difficult. Other than that this is such a blatant act of copyright infringement right down to the special moves. It's actually pretty funny how hard they tried to copy Final Fight, and how miserable this game turned out.
Sound[3]
They used the same hit sounds as Final Fight too. The music was easily forgetable, unlike Final Fight, where everybody in the world who has played that game remembers the music. When you go inside a store, it actually sounds a little like a porno. Pornographic music in fighting games- what will they think of next?
Graphics[5]
Pretty average for a Neo Geo game.
This is what copying gets you and rushing through the rest of the game. Burning Fight sounds like a good game, but it's just another bad sidescroller. You're much better off trying the sidescrollers on the Genesis or Super Nintendo systems. At least they were innovative in some way. I don't burn for a fight in this game- I burn with anger at how badly they tried to screw Capcom's masterpiece.
