GAME PLAY/CONTROLS
---------
Main Menu
---------
-From the games start menu, select Start Game for a new game or Resume Game
to enter a code and continue.
---------------
Trolling Screen
---------------
-In this screen you move your boat around by pressing (A,to go forward and B,
to go in reverse) and troll a lure behind the boat.
-Press Start to Pause the game.
-Press Select to go to Options Menu:
*INFORMATION:
-Player Info: Gives your players stats in Muscle Power, Body Strength,
and Skill. All stats start at D and max out at AA.
-Result Info: This is your fishbox, see how many fish you have and how
big they are. You can keep a max of 12 fish each day.
-Status Info: This tells you the Time, Line test selected, Line length
Lure, Lure depth, and Freshness of Bait.
*SELECT LINE: Select your line test. Chose from 70lb, 92lb, 110lb, 140lb,
or 160lb. I recommend 160lb test line. Default is 110lb.
*SET LINE LENGTH: Set how far behind the boat you want to troll your bait.
Choose from 100-500 feet, default is set at 200 and that
seems to work well. If you set it too far out you will
have a hard time bringing in big fish. If you set it to
short you will have a hard time getting bites.
*Select Lure: Choose from Feather, Plug H, Eye ball, Floures, Skirt S,
Skirt L, Live S, Live L. Default is set on Feather and that
is what I use. If you choose Live bait remember to check
the freshness periodically.
*SET LURE DEPTH: Set how deep you want your bait. Choose from Float, 20ft
40ft, 60ft, or 80ft. Default is Float and that works
well for the Feather.
---------
Dock Menu
---------
-While on the trolling screen bring your boat to the dock to access this menu
-Your options are:
*Resume Fishing: Continue fishing where you are.
*Select Point: Pick a different spot to fish.
*Return to Port: Quit fishing for the day and go to the weigh in.
---------------
Fighting Screen
---------------
-When a fish bites you will go to the fighting screen.
-In the bottom right of the screen is a picture of a Marlin with a hook in
its mouth. If the fishing line and hook start jumping around that means the
hook is getting loose, you need to stop reeling and let the fish run a bit
and it should tighten up. The dots over the fishes head indicate its
stamina, no dots and its not tired, 3 dots its a little tired, 6 dots it is
exausted so go for it.
-There is a Stamina Bar on the screen for the fisherman. If the bar gets down
into the red, stop reeling and let the fish run so you can regain some
strength.
-Press Start to Pause.
-Press Select to go to a menu where you can select CUT THE LINE or REVERSE
THE BOAT.
-Durring a fight with a marlin, sometimes the marlin will do somthing that
requires you to take action.
*"Did you see that marlin jump?"
"What will you do?"
1. Swing the rod.
2. Wind the reel.
3. Do nothing.
*"The Marlin is tail walking"
"What will you do?"
*"The marlin is trying to cut the line in the propellor"
"What will you do?"
1. Pull up on the rod.
2. Free the drag.
*"The reel is smoking"
1. Dowse the reel with water.
2. Free the drag.
Unfortuately, there are no answers that are always right or always wrong.
It seems to be completely chance on whether you do the right thing or the
wrong thing. If you do get it right, the fish will start to tire. If you
get it wrong the fish will take out line. In the case of the propellor and
the reel smoking, if you get it wrong your line will be damaged. If the
buzzer warning that the line was about to pop was going off there is a good
chance that you will lose the fish if you choose incorrectly.
FISH TYPES
-----------
Sail Fishes
-----------
-Blue Marlin: Considered one of the most sought after saltwater game fish.
-Black Marlin: Also a very sought after game fish.
-Stripped Marlin: Yet another trophy.
-Sword Fish: Well, they eat good.
-Sail Fish: Though it is not as large as the other marlins, its beauty makes
this fish a true trophy for anyone.
*(These are the fish that matter in the tournament)
----------
Other Fish
----------
-Sharks: Watch out, they're big and they'll bite your line off.
-Barracuda: These will also be responsible for several bite offs.
-Tuna: On the trolling screen it looks just like a marlin, but when you go to
the fight screen there is no fin. A very good fish to level up on.
-Dorado: (AKA: Mahi-Mahi/Dolphin) These fish comprise most of the schools you
will see on the trolling menu.

*HOW TO CATCH A BLUE MARLIN*
****************************
When you start the game your your players level will be D in each of the 3
Stats. I'd suggest that you practice catching some of the schooling fish
first and then move on to the Marlins. First thing you will want to do in
each area is go to the Options menu and select your line test as 160lb.
When you fight a fish, put the drag as tight as it will go first thing and
then do a pump and reel. Press Down on the D-Pad to rock back in the fighting
chair and then let go and reel in line. When you hear the "Tink Tink Tink"
the line is under stress and you should stop reeling and let the fish run a
little. Also let the fish run a little if the hook is getting lose. If the
marlin is taking you out and you can't turn him at all, press select and put
the boat in reverse, this is what they call "backing down" on a fish. When
you start to gain some line, go ahead and reverse the boat again.
The biggest challenge in the game is finding marlin. You will see a few
following schools of fish or trailing behind seagulls. These are the easy
ones to hook so take advatage of spotting them. In order to be sucessful at
this game you are going to have to hook the hiden marlins. These can be
found following schools of fish, behind seagulls, and following whales. To
make these marlin appear you need to get the boat beside a school of fish and
troll the lure just behind the last fish. Be carefull not to run the motor
through the middle of the school or it will disipate along with any marlin
that is following it. Getting the marlins to appear behind birds can be a
little tricky because the birds change direction so unexpectedly. Just try
and keep the lure beneath or just behind the seagulls and if there is a
marlin it should appear. As for the whales, just troll the lure behind them
with out driving directly over the whale and a marlin should appear.
If your having trouble reeling in a marlin from 200ft out, here is a little
trick you can use. Troll the lure 200ft behind the boat, but as soon as a
marlin appears press select and change the line length to 100ft. Get the
lure infront of the marlin and then enjoy a fight from only 100ft. Once you
build your stats up to AA in Body Strength and Muscle Power, you should be
able to reel in most marlins from 200-300ft. GOOD LUCK.
