Super Mario Bros.
Question from spawneN
Asked on: 8/4 3:49PMWell, is it true that you can jump over the flagpoles at the end of the levels?
Its been a way long time since I've even touched this game much less here at Gamefaqs. IIRC you can jump over any flag pole provided there is a high enough block pyramid thing leading up to it. Even so it takes a precisely timed jump to get over it, or you'll just get the top for 5000 points. Nothing special happens, you just get to run around a flat area until you run out of time and die.

statusI don't believe that you can. However in Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels there's one level in which you can jump over the flag pole. Turns out it leads to a warp zone back to 1-1.
No, not in this game like the first answer person said. Caldor is mistaken.
No, you just get 5000 points if you jump the highest you can.
Yes you can.

It's been said that you can jump over the flagpole in World 3-3.
It is possible to jump over the flag in certain levels, but this is unintentional. Doing so won't let you finish the level, so I wouldn't recommend trying.
Unless you fly like Superman, you'll generally just get the max score and automatically slide all the way down the pole.
IIRC, you can jump over ANY flagpole in The Lost Levels.
Some take you to different warp zones, like one took me to World 3, another took me back to World 1, and the last one I found took me to World 6.
Apparently you can jump over the pole in the one level that Ultimate Somnia linked to, but I don't think you can jump over any others.
IIRC, you can jump over ANY flagpole in The Lost Levels.
this, iirc, is because luigi has added jumping ability compared to mario, and not really relevant here
Yes, in world 3-3 and 7-1.
However, you will not be able to complete the level as far as I know.
Also, using a Game Genie with a suitable jump-enhancing code, you can achieve the same effect: arriving at a flat, empty area where, due to the lack of backwards scrolling, you simply wait for time to expire.
