"A good Color Dreams game? I think Hell just froze over..."

I snagged this game a few years back, mostly because it was a black Color Dreams cart, and I know how tough they can be to chase down sometimes, and because it was cheap. For the last couple years it sat on my shelf, looking nice next to all my other games. I never gave it much thought because, well, Color Dreams games aren't exactly renowned for their quality. But just recently, I decided to give it a whirl, and was pleasantly surprised by it. Quite simply, it's Color Dreams' best title, although that doesn't exactly say much. Anyway, enough background...On with the review!
Graphics: 7/10
For the most part, the graphics are rather nice. The sprites are bright and colourful, and stand out nicely from the background. There is one section of the game that everything seems to blend in, but you get used to it after a while. At the worst spots, they can in no way really be said to be bad, just average.

Sound: 9/10
This game really shines in this department. The tunes, although recycled, fit the game rather well, and the sounds are crisp and clear, and sound like they should. It keeps you wanting to play the game long after you would have given up after countless slips into a bottomless pit.

Gameplay: 7/10
The controls can be a bit touchy at times. They're not bad once you get used to them though, just kind of annoying when you fall into the same pit 800 times. Other than that, the game plays well. Well paced, decent (but not exceptional) level design, and fairly easy to pick up and play.

Challenge: 8/10
Definitely one of the more difficult games on the NES. I might even venture to say top 20, but that may be a bit of a stretch. Still, it's tough, but unlike other Color Dreams titles, it's not in a bad way.

Replay Value: 3/10
I can't really see any reason to play through the game once it's been beaten, unless it's been some time since you last played it and everything is new again.

Conclusion: 6.8/10
Definitely worth picking up a copy for a couple bucks at a flea market, pawn shop, video store, etc. Not the greatest title in history, but it won't disappoint either. It's easily good for a few days entertainment.
