"New Jackal City."
There are a ton of NES war games that I have played and probably a ton more that I haven't, but the ones I have never even came close to this amazing shooter. One thing that sets this game far apart from others is the sheer speed and action of this game! From start to glorious finish the game keeps up a super action and fast game play style. I still play this game happily nearly 20 years later.
A pretty decent storyline that includes you saving P.O.Ws that have been captured and you are pushed far into enemy territory. You are equipped with a jeep to get you where you need to go and a gun.
The game is level progressive, and gives you a nice overhead view of the action! You drive in a jeep and shoot, shoot, shoot! All sorts of nasty enemies try and destroy you as you go deeper and deeper into enemy territory. This is a game that the more you play the better you will get, and the better you get the farther you get. You are equipped with a standard machine gun but the thing I love about games like this is the fact that you can earn upgrades the better you do and the better your score. plenty of goodies for you to use to your advantage and take the offensive. The levels also change in terms of environment and so does the enemy, a fast paced game full of action.
The music and sound effects in this game always struck me as unique. Unique as in Contra or Bubble Bobble or Super Mario Bros. Something that sticks in your head and no matter how much time passes you can always pick it out. Very decent!
Like I said, I am writing this review in 2007;I still play it today. This game became an instant classic in my book and will always remain there. I think this game would be good for anyone but especially those who appreciate older games and are avid NES collectors. If you can find this game anywhere I seriously recommend that you buy it. This game has a certain value that will live in your heart forever and it will never get old.
