1943: The Battle of Midway
Review by AceUltraGamer
"Warning: While 1942 was a beatable arcade classic, this game falls into the typical impossibly challenging NES game category. Play at your own risk."
-------
Synopsis: A more in depth, complex, advanced version of 1942, that came out a few years later. Only this game is 10 times crazier.
-------
Graphics: Coming out a few years after 1942, the graphics are a tad bit better, although still cheesy NES graphics. It's silly how they try to make it more realistic with clouds, more detailed planes and whatnot. They even have pictures of ships blowing up made of cheap pixels! Yeah, it has better graphics than 1942, but only in little details to try to make it look more enhanced. Nothing too spectacular.
-------
Play Control: Pretty much the same controls as the first game, only you need to have better reflexes with the D-pad in order to beat this game, you will need to dodge a lot more missiles.
-------
Game Design: If you loved the first game, this game has more too it, it's more complex, challenging, etc. There are more enemies, power ups, the game just has a little bit more that 1942 didn't offer.
-------
Satisfaction: With a popular classic game like 1942, you would think this game would have more to offer. Well I must say I was unsatisfied. Mostly with the challenge, it's impossible to beat, it's so difficult. Sure people want a challenge in a game, but not practically impossible. So in this case, this game was a bummer, and not very fun to play, considering the difficulty level.
-------
Sound: Perhaps Capcom heeded fans advice, they gave this game music. It's your typical obnoxious NES music, but it sure beats consistent high beeping. You even have a melody that plays when you have one hit until death, which you will be hearing a lot in the game. All in all, the music is normal NES but still a bit annoying.
-------
Comments: If you love these kinds of games and love challenges, this game is for you. Otherwise, avoid. It's a game that, though could be fun when you look at it in an arcade point of view, like many NES games, it's just too difficult to beat, or get far in, and boring too, with 24 levels of this crap. Fun for a few minutes, but afterwards, just harbors frustration. Unless you're perfect, or Japanese, you won't get very far in this game. Stick with the first game, that you can actually beat.
