"The Classic Shoot 'Em Up Game that will stun all players..."

Hello and Welcome to my, Gyarados Scotty's review of the really old classic game, Contra. It is a 2D side-scrolling shooter that will surely knock your socks of.

-Graphics-
This game has great and innovative graphics. From every shot of a gun to the varied terrain, you will be impressed. The color is properly distributed and looks excellent. I found the graphics blocky however, even for the NES. It doesn't effect the gameplay because you will be too caught up in trying to survive and win. You have to remember the game was made in the eighty's if you are young or ignorant about how advanced the graphics were in their day.

-Audio Related Stuff-
Okay, the music is just okay, nothing more, nothing less. The tunes aren't really catchy or well, anything good but it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter because all of the music will be drowned out all of the gunfire and carnage. The sound effects are great, which is good because they are repetitive and used a lot. You may eventually turn the sound down because there is so much of it and it can and will hurt your ears eventually.

-Play Control-
Wow! That is what you will say when notice all of the superior control granted to you in this game. You will be astonished about this aspect of the game and you will not be able to think of ways to improve this attribute. A good part of this game is that the gun is set to autofire for all of the fantastic array of all games.

-Difficulty-
This game is extremely hard. I couldn't get past the third level without the use of codes for a year. I think that it will take you a lot of practising to be able to beat this game without the use of any codes. With codes, it will take about 2 hours to beat it. Without, tens of hours at the least.

-Replayability-
Well, after you beat it, it's pretty much it. That is because it is so hard. After you finally get through it, you will probably lose interest. It is fun once in a while, though.

In conclusion, I would like that this game is great because you stay hooked because it is so difficult. I think that this game deserves a 8.5 but, I guess I'll give it an nine out of ten. If you can find it, buy it! It is great for any collection. And it's a lot of fun!
