Tiny Toon Adventures
Review by Ofisil
"Tiny indeed"
Tiny Toon Adventures is a Platform game developed by Konami. Things with licensed games are pretty simple, they either suck, (suck hard), or are quite decent, with some rare exceptions of very good games. Tiny Toon Adventures isn't a great game, but also it doesn't suck
Story: N/A
That rich spoiled brat whose name I don't remember has kidnapped the girlfriend of Baster Bunny and you must save her
were you expecting something more complicated???
Graphics: 7/10
Design: 6/10
Pretty good actually! Big, nice sprites and with fluid design and animation, that meaning characters don't just look like a bunch of pixels piled up together. Most importantly characters look as if they've jumped out of the TV series! Yes they look that good, even in our humble NES. Everything is very colorful giving the game the cartoonish look that it needs. On terms of design there aren't many things in the game, a bunch of levels that fortunately are unique, some simple critters\enemies for each level and that's about it.
Sound: 6.5/10
Music: 6.8/10
Faithful to the Warner Bros cartoon series feeling, Tiny Toon has very good music, with fast and happy tunes that fit to each area. Not the classic themes like Zelda, Mario, etc, but very good nonetheless. Sound effects are very good too, nothing special, but not the irritating sound effects of some NES games either.
Gameplay: 5.5/10
Replay Value: 3/10
Tiny Toon Adventures is your ordinary platform game, you run, jump and stomp on enemies to kill them, collect items such as carrots that can be traded for lives in certain spots. What's the think that makes the game different? Well Apart from Baster Bunny that is the main guy here, you can choose between 3 other heroes. We have the Duffy Duck's, Taz's and Sylvester's nephews, (don't remember the names), each with some unique powers. While playing you'll come upon some items that will replace Baster with your secondary character, not to mention that 90% of the time you'll be using those and not Baster! The duck for example is an excellent swimmer and can fly for a while, the cat can climb all surfaces and small Taz can use his tornado attack! Of course each one has some problems for example Taz can't jump high and isn't fast enough, so you have to choose the right character for each stage.
Speaking of stages there aren't many. Obviously there is one level designed for each character, the sea for the duck, the high city slams for the cat and the forest for Taz. Apart from these there is the first stage that is like a warm-up and 2 more levels that can be played with everyone without much of a problem. There aren't many things to do in the game. The level design is simple and without something special, bosses are easy although fun and the game is quite short. The only think raising up the replay value is the fact that you can repeat the game with different characters, but then again that will give you another 2-3 hours or something
Positives:
-4 characters with unique powers
-Very good graphics, good music
Negatives:
-Short and easy
Also Play:
Super Mario 3 (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario World 2 (SNES)
Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2 and 3 (Mega Drive)
Overall: 5.8/10
Easy, short, forgettable but suitable for young kids. Abadee, abadee, abadee, that's all folks!!!
