"Made overnight?"

Have you ever played a game that is exactly the same all the way through? Ikari Warriors is one of those games! Endless hoards of the same crap.

Game Play

All you do is walk up in a straight pattern the whole game and there are the same four things to kill. Tanks, little guys that shoot at you, little guys that through grenades at you, and the occasional mine in the ground. There are a billion levels and you only get three lives! So if you are good enough to get to the last level (or cheat by pressing a, b, b, a when you die like I did) then you would know that the last boss is practically invincible. You walk up and hit him with everything you have and then you when you have nothing left after walking around for a while you just die while the boss is sitting up there doing nothing. Some have told me that you can kill him by throwing a grenade here or there, but I have yet to find one that has actually worked for me. The enemies get harder as the game progresses, but they are only pallet swaps of the original enemies that do more damage or attack faster. There are also a bunch of glitches in the game. Occasionally you get stuck in walls and if you run out of bombs and ammo, you will sit at the same screen for about an hour until you die.

Audio/Video

The sound in this game is pretty bad. There are about two sounds for bullets and bombs. There are no other sound effects for dying or walking or anything. And there are only two songs. One song is the one you hear throughout the game. It just repeats over and over again. And then there's another one for when you get near the end of the level and have to fight the big tank ''boss''. It tries to get faster to add to the game but it really doesn't do much.

The backgrounds are actually better then all the other factors of the game. There are quite a few different backgrounds, from jungle to installation-like flooring. But there isn't too much variety besides that. The graphics do suffer though. There are about three different movements for your characters. Moving up in a straight line, and moving up in the diagonal directions. And this little block of color pops up when you fire or throw a grenade. And as stated before, the enemies are pretty much all the same, just a different color.

Story

I honestly do not know what they were trying to get across with this game. All that happens in the intro is that you are in a plane and it crashes. As soon as you get out you are surrounded by guys firing at you. So you just start killing them off one by one scrolling up the screen. There's really no explanation for why this is happening.

Overall

Overall this game is the same boring thing over and over and over. It's a good thing this game is old, because that way less people will be able to find it. So basically what I'm saying in a nutshell is don't buy this game! It's pretty damn bad.
