Tennis

Review by Blackjack4x

"Like Baseball and Golf, only Tennis"

Just to point something out...... the music in Tennis is IDENTICAL to the music in Baseball, from the title screen music to the sound effects. Following in the footsteps of Golf and Baseball, Nintendo decided to keep the name of this one simple too and went with Tennis. Tennis is, as you may have guessed, a tennis game, for one or two players. You can play a singles or doubles match. As with the two previously mentioned games, this one is simple to the point of it being a negative. You serve the ball, and hit, that's all. Forget about confusing your opponent with drop shots and lobs. The doubles mode pits you and a friend against two computer players. For the record, Mario appears to be the chair umpire.

Graphics: 3/10

If you've seen Baseball, you know these graphics. The same type of players, no names, just playing the game. The crowd here has just come from watching the baseball game too, I believe.

Sound: 2/10

Well, identical to Baseball, which means after the title screen music all you'll be hearing are simple sound effects.

Gameplay: 4/10

Your player is fairly easy to control, but the variety of shots is somewhat..... lacking. You can hit forehand or backhand, and if you're close to the net you'll smash it. Sometimes it's hard to place shots where you want them, very hard at times. The two player mode does add something to the game. Some kind of tournament option would have been nice, or ANYTHING else.....

Replay: 5/10

The game isn't REALLY bad, but with the options here, you'll only be entertained for so long.

Overall: 4/10

It's better to just forget about Nintendo's early sports games Baseball and Golf, and Tennis is no exception. A nice attempt, but they can't stand up to the sports games of today.
