Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode
Review by MI4 REAL
"A cool spy game, bring back the nostalgia..."
This spy game takes place during the Iron Curtain...You must retrieve the Cassandra-G vaccine and stop said virus, Cassandra G, from being used as a biological weapon of war...you are agent Duke Togo, aka Golgo 13, and you must stop them. If you fail, many innocents will die. And the world could be in jeopardy. The world as you know it could end.....
Plot twists, people dying for the cause of good, and mazes to stop a certain secret agent (Ummm...that is you Golgo 13...) make up this entire game.
Three different modes of play you must go through....basic overview, typical of a game, Pan and Zoom, a gun appears on the screen to signal it, it is a sidescrolling gunfight with gunners, helicopters, jets, etc, it appears in certain places, not at all random...and mazes that will send you in circles unless you have the maps in the instruction booklet included with the games...But since you can only buy them at used game places like Funcoland, you will have to resort to trial and error....
Gameplay-6
The game is pretty interesting! But you will have a REALLY hard time unless you have the instruction booklets for the mazes...and that sliding bar in the mazes is a compass. You might take a bit of time trying to figure out what to do next, but you will figure it out eventually.
Control-8
The control is good and you shouldn't really have any problems. It is pretty basic and nothing really complex is needed or even used.
Graphics-7
Pretty good for a NES game, The buildings are rather cool looking and realistic for a game back in the late 80s...and the mazes are just cool!
Sound-7
Tunes are nice, I kinda like the maze one, although it is rather bland or plain. Listen to the music as you walk and take out all that try to stop you.
Playability-4
Like I said, you need the maze maps unless you want to go through serious trial-and-error. Everything else is good...and there are no maze maps for 10 and 11, those are simple though. The only real flaw is the fact you will be running through a dangerous maze mapless and clueless!
Buy, rent, borrow, burn?
You might want to rent or borrow it first, but I say it is good enough to give it a try. Takes a little while to get used to though. Play it and see how you like it, then if you do, then buy it!!!
