Yoshi's Cookie
Review by MI4 REAL
"An OK game"
Yoshi's Cookie is a NES puzzle game where you arrange cookies into neat rows to score points. Basically you got to clear the stack before the cookie factory overflows with cookies! You complete the level when you clear every cookie from the stage. You can make combinations as well. The more combinations you get before it stops, the more points you get. As the levels advance, the speed increases, and so do the chances of the entire cookie factory overflowing, and the game ending. The objective is to stay in as long as you can. After 10 stages in a world, you get a cinema scene before you continue on to a harder level. 2 players can play and see who can clear their load first! Oh, one more thing, the longer it takes for you to clear your stack, the faster the speed goes! This game was made in the early days when the Super NES just came out and Yoshi was only known as Mario's dinosaur riding buddy. As of now, Yoshi has created his own identity and now has several games of his own and appears in many others.
Gameplay-5
You arrange the cookies endlessly, and try for the biggest combo. The challenge, how long can you go? How big of a combo can you go? And if the first 10 levels aren't enough for you, there is a code that will let you get more levels for a real challenge? Can you do it???
Control-10
Basic horizontal and vertical moving of the stacks of cookies leaves little room for difficulty, so control is not a real issue here. That is a good thing, as little if no control flaws or errors cause you to screw up.
Sound-5
Only the level 11+ music is really keen, and there isn't too many sounds in this game to really speak of. Sound is really basic.
Playability-10
No control issues, anyone can play it, and nothing to disrupt your game (at least nothing within the game) should let you play totally free of worry.
Replay Value-3
There is a bunch of levels yes, but that doesn't make too much of a difference here. Try to see all 10 cinema scenes and beat the highest special level....especially on High difficulty! You can play with a friend and see who can clear their stack first.
Buy? Borrow? Rent? Burn?
Might want to borrow this game, but you can always rent it, or buy it used for about $5 at a used game store like Funcoland.
Saving
There are no saves
Players/Modes
2 player simultaneous or one player, 10 stages, plus more extra stages.
