Review by TomGuy
"The game is alright, nothing I would buy though, oh wait. I already did."
This game includes lots of stuff, like funny people, garbage cans, lots of other wacky items to stop you, and what? The GRIM REAPER?!
Gameplay: 8/10
Ok. The boy is delivering papers and stuff likes to get in the way. It’s not bad. The problem is the little angle they have that makes it kind of hard to get papers in where you want. But, that’s no problem. Also, there are numerous things blocking you ranging from skaters to tornadoes, to even the Grim Reaper. Since when did he ever care if you were delievering papers? The game is not bad, considering it’s for NES.
Music & Sound: 4/10
Hmm, the same song when you’re riding, the same song when you enter the training course, the same sounds when you run into stuff . . . you get my drift? I think that there is a lot of consistency when it comes to music and sounds.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are not bad, like when the dog chases after you, or when a tornado hits. But, there are some things that are not so good like just moving the “Grim Reaper” out like a whole 3 feet and just stands like a statue, and the same when you hit a dog with a newspaper. It stands still. C’mon, if you were hit by a newspaper, would you stand like a statue? I think not.
Challenge: 9/10
The challenge is there. That’s no doubt about it. The problem is when it gets too difficult that it’s kind of hard to beat it. You should be hitting every newspaper on everyone’s doorstep or mail bin or you lose their subscription, nice. But that is what makes Paperboy unique.
Replay Value: 7/10
I dunno. I just don’t like all those things hitting you and it makes it really hard. I guess you would play it for a little while but that would be about it, nothing else. I just got it for a week and I am getting bored already from it.
The Good:
Nice bicycle
Not bad graphics
The Bad:
Dumb enemies
Too many enemies
The music
The Ugly:
The Grim Reaper?
The lady that comes out of her house to chase you.
Overall: 7/10
The game is good to rent, or borrow, but you should get this game to buy for something less than $10. Over that just isn’t worth it . . .
