"AHHHHH!!! The Pitiful Sound Effects!!! AHHHHH!!!"
Sure, this game may be a classic but still, IT STINKS. It is Capcom's attempt to make a follow up to Arcade Classic Galaga. While I don't really like Galaga that much, It is a lot better than this game. Anyway, I'm sure that you are tired of hearing me rant on and on about the badness of this game.(No, not bad like the Bad Dudes, I mean horrible) Without further ado, the review.
Sound Like I said before, AHHHHH!!! The ''Sound'' in this game is just random high-pitched beeping noises that try to have some kind of tune. Occasionally, It is broken up by funky sounds that I think are supposed to resemble a Snare Drum. It does have a cool little tune that plays at the beginning of each level, which is a good change from random high-pitched beeping noises.
Plot Ummmmmm... Yeah. You are a fighter pilot who tries to take out the entire German army by him(or her)self (and 2 little helper dudes, but I will get to that later). After every couple of levels, you fight a huge airplane who shoots you through his rear. No Joke!! He shoots some shots at you through his rear!! Umm.. Well, it is innovative.
Gameplay B shoots and A rolls. All rolls do are make you go below all enemy's and their fire and then come back up. Unfortunately, I never use them. There are also power ups here and there in the form of the word POW. You get a green one which makes you shoot 4 shots at a time instead of 2, a different color one which gives you 2 little helper dudes, one on each side of you. All the do is shoot when you do, not that exciting, but useful. There are also White POW's scattered about which kill all the enemies on screen.
Conclusion Overall, I give this game a 4. It is a sup-par effort by Capcom to make a decent shooter. Too bad they failed. If you are that desperate for a shooter than get Gradius of Life force or 1943(Which is not that good, but it is still better than this) or Galaga. The list could go on and on. Rent or Buy? How about neither. This game suffers dramatically in sound and it is very repetitive. Just let it go.
