"No! Don't touch me evil skate or die demon!!!"
Watch out! It's the ''Skate or Die demon''!! Well, if your energy (or whatever it is) runs out, skate with all your might! Or die. Whatever. Released by... Tengen. Not the most-known company. Whatever. About the game's story, it's a skateboard guy. He wants to be good on skateboard. There's no more story than that. (From what I know). However, the storyline does not (as far as I know) take part as you play the game, and it doesn't matter. It's a skateboard game for god's sake! The things that matters in a skateboard game is IMO:
1. Gameplay
2. Sound
3. Graphics sometimes.
Number three on the chart above this text is graphics. That's what we're gonna talk about now. The graphics in this game.
*title screen pops up*
You: ''Wow! Cool graphics!''
Me: ''Wait and see...''
*game starts*
You: ''Uack! The graphics are ugly!!
Me: ''That's what I said.''
Yup. It somewhere around that. Ugly. Well, it's the colours that is ugly. The game is too... grey. If they just would have done a little better colour scheme... And it's too repetitive, too. When you've completed the four events: Ramp, Slalom, downhill and big jump is the serie changed. On the new serie must you complete the same things, again. And they look almost exactly the same. Which is not fun after a while.
On to the gameplay. The most important thing. As I said before, the game is to repetitive. Well, on each ''class'' is four events, and a bunch of shops. After completing the events will you go on to the next ''class''. Which looks almost exactly the same: The events are:
The Ramp: Ah, the ramp. You are going up and down in a ramp. And you can do a handplant and a little spin if you want.
Downhill: Hop on your skateboard and prepare for... a downhill course that last in 5 seconds. After that is the course completed.
Big Jump:
Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen, here is.....The skateboard guy!!
*applause*
Announcer: He's going to jump on this BIG JUMP!!
Voice in head:(that isn't that big at all)
Announcer: At the way down is he going to perform tricks!!
Voice in head: (although the tricks is just a spin)
Announcer: Very interesting!
Voice in head: (or not)
The big jump is a jump that is bigger than the others, but not BIG.
Slalom: There are a lot of flags here. You are going to ride your skateboard through them. If you wanna get a gold medal, go through all of them. If not, just go straight through and into the goal (which is most likely).
AAAHHHHH!!! It's the skate or die demon!!! Yup, it's it. When your energy runs out will this little demon come and kill you. If you can't make it to a event, good bye and game over. That is not good. Not good for you and not good for the game either. Because of this fact can you not stay in the park and get some points. If you try to do that will the demon come and destroy everything for you. And your goal is to make money. And points. Go to the ramp then and skate for sixty seconds. That's not ENOUGH to make a big score!! Argh!
The music is not good. No more needs to be said. See for yourself. Same is for the sound effects. Not good, boring, repetitive, and bad!
The game can, however, be pretty fun to play, but just for a while. You'll see soon enough that the game is boring. You hear me? Booooooooooooooring. After a while. Too repetitive. And I really mean it.
The controls is actually pretty good. The originals are here (up goes up, left goes left and so on) You can also jump. Wow. Anyway, the game responds pretty good and I think the controls are OK. Check it out for yourself.
