Time Lord
Review by HyperBlissey
"Hmmm... A game by Milton Bradley... Does that NOT say enough?"
I got this game at a garage sale for 20 dollars along with some classic (and some not-so-classic) games as well as an NES. I already had one, but 20 dollars for an NES and some games is one sweet deal. The other games it came with were Shadowgate, Cobra Triangle, *shudders* Where in time is Carmen Sandiego?, and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (I already had a copy AND a copy of SMB/Duck Hunt/WC Track Meet, but at least Shadowgate and Cobra Triangle were worth it). I misplaced/lost/strongly suspect my cousin stole Shadowgate and WITICS. Call it what you want, It won't make me not wish I'd lost Time Lord instead. Shadowgate was only half-decent, had a point-and-click interface, and could be completed in 10 minutes, yet it was still WAY better than this. Why? I'll tell you.
This game was made by Milton Bradley, the company responsible for making really bad board games. Yes, sadly, they did videogames at one time (I heard they recieved help from Rareware), and from this game I'd say they were bad at that, too.
Sound - 4.1/10
Bearable. Not THAT bad, but trust me, you've heard MUCH better. Standard bleeps and boops are what is heard here, nothing more.
Graphics - 3.0/10
Bearable. Pretty sub-par. They get the job done, though, albeit fairly poorly IMO. There are games that are better than this but use the same engine.
Replay - 6.0/10
This game's high point, and only because you're too stubborn to give up on level two (which has a point with three pillars, you have to walk down them in exactly the right way to get an orb, which you need 5 of to complete a level). You might come back every few months or so to pass the time if you lead a life as boring as mine.
Playability - 2.3
You'll get insanely frustrated by the time you get to the third level (that is to say IF you get to the third level - I only did twice). 'Puzzles' which are usually either insanely easy or near impossible to complete are characteristics of levels two and three (never did get to four). In addition to this, you start on January 1st, 2999, and days pass every 2 seconds. I'm pretty sure the farthest I got was April 27th. I think the world ends on January 1st, 3000, but I don't know for sure and unless I get really, REALLY bored it's quite I'll never find out. BTW, that score can also be read in minutes if you take out the decimal point.
Overall - 2.0
I know it doesn't actually average 2.0, but I'm still going to give it that because that's actually how I feel about it.
To Buy or Rent?
Sell, or better yet burn so the unlucky fool who might buy it for the likely selling cost (99 cents) doesn't get ripped off that badly.
