Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Review by CTmaster
"My mistake about the last one!!!"
This is pretty much the same review that I posted before, with some minor changes. Since I have never beaten this game, I had no idea that there were more than one ending. I changed the replay value to suit that. Enjoy!
==Castlevania II: Simon’s quest was just great. It is, in my opinion, the best NES game and second best game of all time.
I gave this game a 10/10
Graphics- 9/10
This game’s graphics were impressive for its time. They were smooth and the enemy’s looked great. You could tell the difference between whips that you used and many game’s back then could not do that. The colours in the game are pretty bad by today’s standard. But hey, this was great for its time.
Story- 8/10
This is a classic castlevania story. Kill Dracula. What was really good about this game is that it is the only castlevania that does not take place in Dracula’s castle. By now, the castlevania story is kinda getting dull, but this game was only the second one in the series, so I can’t say that it was dull.
Gameplay- 9/10
Like I just said, this is the only castlevania game where you are not in Dracula’s castle. There were many towns, bosses, enemies, weapons, etc. There were people in towns you could talk to and the game would shift from night to day. There were churches weapon shops, etc. This also started other castlevania rpg-styled games. Simon and the monster’s are pretty interactive, like when they flash when hurt and simon even falls back when hit. The buttons were easy to get used to. The b button was for using your whip, the a button was to jump, and start brought up the menu.
Sound- 10/10
This game has one of the best soundtracks ever. The sounds weren’t choppy either. Simon actually did a little noise when he got hurt but the monsters never said anything. Of course, the sounds in games back then were not that great, so this game was pretty revolutionary.
+Replay value- 10/10 NEW!!!
This game’s replay value is great. Depending on how long it took you to complete the game decided which of the three endings you would receive. Too bad I didn’t know this earlier.+
Overall- 10/10
This game was very fun. One more thing that I should mention is that I have never beaten this game. I have gotten very far, though. In fact, if I had gotten just one more body part of Dracula’s, I would have gotten to him myself. I hope that you agree with my views of this game. If not, I respect that. Hope you have fun playing this surprisingly lengthy, challenging, and weird game.==
