Bionic Commando

"An awesome game by Capcom"

I traded my friend a PS2 game for 10 NES games. Among those games was this awesome game from Capcom.

Story: I didn't get a manual for this game and I haven't finished the whole game but you are in the army and I think the point of the game is to rescue one of your men that was captured by enemy soldiers, A good story in my opinion.

Gameplay: This game is FUN! The controls are simple and easy enough to figure out. Your main weapon is a shoulder-mounted bazooka. You fire it with A. B is your grappling hook. To use the grappling hook you must press a certain direction and press A. The downside: Theres no jumping AT ALL. Yeah it sucks, but that thats what the hook is for! Its a little hard to use at first but once you learn how its alot more fun than using a jump button.

Graphics: The characters and buildings are very well drawn, and Super Joe's (The main character)hair is really cool looking and he wears sunglasses. The enemies look good looking too but they all look the same. The environments are very colorful and the next level is different from the last.

Sound: The sound effects can get repetive (BEEP BEEP BOINK!) but the music is really good, better than most NES games. The music reminds me of an NES Zelda game music. Its upbeat, catchy, and fits the mood perfectly.

Replayabillity: After you finish the game, theres no real reason to play it again, as there isn't much in the extras department. But I like to play the game and swing around like Tarzan with my grappling hook and do stunts and stuff, like swinging over big gaps.

Buy/Rent: If you like Metroid you should go out and pick up a copy right now. If not, you should give it a try, as you can probably find it for under five dollars.

Pros:

A good challenge.

Good graphics.

Fun!

Great music.

The grappling hook is really fun if you know how to use it.

Cons:

Annoying sound effects.

May be TOO hard for some players.

Some may not like that there is no jump.

Final word: Bionic Commando is an excellent and underrated action game with good graphics and fun gameplay. If you love action games I suggest you run out to your nearest videogame retailer and buy one, or maybe get it at a garage sale for a buck.
