"No, dog, no! GET AWAY! ARRGGH!"

Welcome to my review for the game Paperboy. This review is ONLY for the Nintendo Entertainment System's Paperboy. The game is decent. What you are supposed to do is deliver papers to the subscribing houses. The houses that have subscribed are white. Sounds pretty easy, huh?

Well, not when there's a Grim Reaper walking in the streets, mini-tornadoes and dogs chasing your bike, and a psycho coming out of a subscriber's house with a knife! Good grief! I will now move on to the aspects of the game.

Audio: 8/10

Pretty good audio. There are a few bad points here and there, but, for the most part, the audio is good. The sound of you breaking windows is realistic, although when you successfully deliver to a house, it simply makes a happy noise, instead of making what it would actually sound like. I can understand this, but it's not like it's realistic. Another strong point of the audio is the dog. When it starts running after you, it barks like a real dog. However, it immediately stops when a paper hits it with no noise. Still, the dog is good.

Controls: 10/10

There's nothing wrong with the controls. If you accidentally bump B instead of A to throw a paper, no worries! A or B throws a paper! The controls are both simple and excellent. Start pauses, and Select does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell. It's nice to only have to worry about two buttons. The pad steers, speeds up, and slows down, as it should.

Game Play: 7/10

The game play is extremely unrealistic and can get very frustrating. It's also pretty fun. But the extreme unrealism and possible mass frustration can really get in the way. Two people can play, but, still. Only if you're good will you succeed. The Training Course strengthens the game play a bit, but not enough to give it an 8 or better.

Replay Value: 5/10

Not good. Not good at all. Once you've made it past Sunday, with, which perseverance, shouldn't take too long, there's nothing to do except beat your friends, or have a good competition if they're skilled. But, still, the replay value is bad.

Story: 9/10

Uh...a game like this doesn't need a story. But, hey, it could have a tiny one, like, the last paperboy got hurt, or something.

And so we've come to the end of this review. If you've read it, you've read my opinion about the game of Paperboy. I gave the game a 7 out of 10 because I felt that that was what the game deserved. Other people may have other opinions, but this was mine.

Rent or Buy: Well. The game is good for some entertaining, but I don't think you'll play it on a regular basis. I would say rent, and, if you like it, buy.

Thank you.
