"Absolutely THE best football game on the NES!"

11 years ago, this marvelous game was made by Tecmo, Ltd., contemporary to two other games, Kyattou Ninden Teyandee (based on the hit anime/manga) and Ninja Gaiden III, which were both released before Tecmo Super Bowl was in Japan. Of course, we got TSB first.

Anyway, the main attraction of this game is, of course, the Super Bowl, which comes in 15 rounds or so; there are 15 weeks, but, fortunately, you can skip the other games of the same week...just make sure that every other team is set on ''SKP'' (''skip''), unless there's more than one person playing in the Season mode. You know, the best part of Season Mode is, I can play as the Houston Oilers and see what should've been seen in reality. And, that would've happened if it weren't for a certain jerk who cared more about money than his players OR winning the Super Bowl! For those of you who don't know, I'm talking about Bud Adams...but, enough about that, since I'm getting off topic.

There is also a Preseason mode, which you can play either by yourself to refine your skills for the season, or with a friend/relative just for the heck of it. Well, since there isn't much else to talk about (besides the Profiles per team and teammate), let's get on to the ratings.

Graphics A
For a game like this one, the gameplay graphics are fine; and yet, the sequences are a whole lot better!

Audio A+
Excellent soundtrack and sound effects; I especially like the tones you hear when you score a touchdown or a field goal! There's even a voice that you hear when you reach your side that shouts ''Touchdown!''

Control A
The play controls are great as well; however, it is SO great, that I can't think of any more fitting adjectives to describe it.

What I give this game Two Thumbs Up!
Why? Well, the reason is pretty much explained. And, that's because Tecmo Super Bowl, like I said, is THE best NFL game ever made on the NES, not to mention an excellent example of a partnership between the USA and Japan!

Buy it? Yes, yes, yes, YES!!!!!!!!!!
A million times yes! So, don't just stand there -- go to your local GameStop, or Funcoland, or flea market, or pawn shop, and pick up your very own used copy P.D.Q.! No luck? Then, try searching eBay, Amazon.com, or Gamestop.com. But, no matter what it's gonna take, DON'T hesitate to get this gem of a game, whether you're a sports fan or not!
