"Pretty pitiful"
I got this game for $5 at a local movie/game rental place 4 or 5 years ago. I expected to go home with a game that I would enjoy for quite a while, and boy did I end up very disappointed. Let me go on to explain why I say this. Below is my very first video game review:
The Breakdown:
Gameplay: 1/10 - To me, gameplay is what matters most, and this game is very bad in this area. Push A to punch, push B to kick - high excitement. D-pad left and right to move left and right (obviously), and up to jump. I find it very difficult to jump across gaps, and this only adds to my lack of interest in the game. To knock a normal person out, all you have to do is either punch or kick him, causing the game to be very simply; in spite of this, I have never beaten the game because I'm always sick of jumping in the gaps that are impossible to evade.
Story 2/10 - I give this a 2/10 only because I'm feeling generous. Basically, the only story is, ''Punch or kick anything that moves.'' However, I will give it one thing, and that is that it's roughly based on the movie. (Of course, I should have known when I bought it not to buy a game based on a movie!) :-)
Graphics 2/10 - Pretty bad, even for the NES; yet, not as bad as some I've seen.
Sound 2/10 - I don't remember it being OVERLY annoying; just your basic fighting noises. Nothing overly catchy about the music, which does not particularly fit the game very well.
Replayability 1/10 - Boy, do I wish I could give this a 0! :-) Personally, I don't see why anybody would want to play this in the first place, but if you must, I'm sure you'll find that you never want to play it again! I'm warning you!
Overall 2/10 (Not an average) - A pretty lousy game that you won't be able to endure very long. I HAVE always wondered what it would look like to tie a NES cartridge onto a bottle rocket! ;-)
Buy?? Maybe, if you're desperate for a new game, and it's only a buck or two. I wouldn't do it if I were you though.
