"Why does my iceclimber run like a maniac but jump like he has a broken leg?"

Ice Climbers is an old NES game. Most of you probobly know them from Super Smash Bros. Melee. Some people didnt like them in Super Smash Bros. Melee, but I dont really care for them either. I especially dont care for them in this game. The game starts out strong, then you start to notice the little things that slowly turn into very big things. My sypnosis hints at the biggest one.

Graphics: 8/10

Im not a stickler for graphics. Mostly becuase I was born in the day of 8-bit graphics. The only thing that really could have improved the game was some different landscapes. I mean an ice mountain throughout the whole thing is a bit boring. How bout a volcano mountain or something?

Sound: 8/10

NES games couldnt do much in the sound department. This means that sounds are mainly BOOP! or BOOOING! No real complaints here unless for some reason you find it necessary to complain about games that were made 10-15 years ago.

Gameplay: 5/10

SPLAT! This is where the game really gets you. You will notice that your Iceclimber can run as fast as a rabbit, but only jump practicly in one direction which is straight up. They do move over a little bit, but only slightly which makes it hard to jump onto different platforms. And if jumping onto platforms wasnt hard enough, then your really going to have a great time landing. Yes, landing is quite difficult in this game. This is due to that fact that for some reason your Iceclimber will fall through the floors when you clearly made the jump. Which mean you cant just barely make a jump, you have to make sure your whole Iceclimber body is completely over the mark of just barely made it. This works against you because when you move up the mountain the camera will pan up, and will never move back down, much like castlevania games, so if you barely make the jump, which results in a fall, you will most likely die.

Music: 4/10

Theres only two songs, the main theme title song, and the in-game song. They are also quite repetative, which make the tunes from listenable to just downright annoying. The songs arent that good to begin with anyway, they just pass as little jingles.

Overall: 5/10

Only play this game if you just want to see the past of the Iceclimbers.
