"One Weird Game."

This game is really strange. I found it in a bin for NES games and got it for 2 dollars. If ANYONE has played this game other than me (and I highly doubt it) one thing you will definately notice about it is it's odd looking cartridge. The cartridge is abnormally shaped, blue, and made in Taiwan. It is also not licensed by Nintendo. I got it out of pure curiosity, because I wanted to see how this bootleg game is like. Well, I was suprised. I thought it would be absolutely terrible, but there are some good things about this game.

Story: No story. Apparantly your a little space guy named Captain Comic who goes around shooting birds and worms. I dont have the instruction manual (if there was one) but thats all I got from the game.

Graphics: These are suprisingly good, especially for the time it was made, which is probably the late 80s. (No copyright date on the cartridge). The sprites are large and colorful, and the backgrounds are atmospheric. The main character is big but undetailed. Still, these are pretty well done.

Sound: The music quality is fair, but for some strange reason the developers insisted on using classical music for levels instead of original themes. It seems a bit weird shooting aliens to the sound of Beethoven, and this only makes the game odder. There are virtually no sound effects, but thats to be expected. Overall, the sound is just too deviant of action game fare to be good.

Play Control:The play control is where the games main fault lies. You can easily move around, but you cant duck! This gets really frustruating as there are many small enemies who go under your shots. Also jumping is a real problem.

Replayability: After a few times through, you'll probably get bored. But the weirdness of this game may drive you back. It reminds me of some sort of odd abstract art. It all depends on your taste for platform games.

Buy/Rent?: Uhh, if you can find it (and I stress the IF, because like I said, I may have been the only person in the world to play this game) you should buy it if its under five dollars. It's an oddity, and it may just intrigue you.
