Vegas Dream
Review by Pokejedservo
"My personal favorite "Casino" game."
First off this not all that known Casino title for the NES may not be ''NES Classic'' material like how ''Super Mario Bros.'' and the like are. This one is VERY much a personal fave of mine that I have been playing for 10 years now ever since I got it in 1993. Its a simple but heavily effective game which is all about your trip to the Casino. And besides its the main reason why Black Jack is now my fave Card Game. Sure I got nothing against those like Poker but Black Jack is still my fave.
Now first off let us get into the usual technical scopes of the game in review now shall we? First off the graphics in this game are well-done while they are more ''NES Standard'' they are still very good and do its job quite well. And of course the gameplay is very top-notch and the control doesn't truly falter at all so overall its a very solid game. The music isn't terrible but it can be at times be a bit too ''tinny'' (even when it comes to NES games it can still get a bit too tinny.)
The games in which you play here are as follows (and not in the order that the game potrays them in)...
Slot Machine- Its basically the same as what it says, so don't expect all that much difference here. (Then again since when do actual Slot Machines are ever TRULY different?)
Roulette- A old-fashioned simple game of placing your chips in various certain spots then after your done with the chip & bet placement you spin the wheel to see if the spots you picked are any winners.
Keno- Never heard of this one? Me neither, but its a simple game of the numbers 1 to 100. And you get to pick 15 of them and see if any of them are the numbers that\'ll be picked. Its a simple game of chance and hey to most of you guys out there at least this one has the most ''visually appealing'' waitress-like women serving up the winning numbers.
Black Jack- Ah the good ol-fashioned ''best for last'' huh? Though DON'T worry I won't overly reiterate my love of the game of this ''21-pickup'' game of cards. But those who enjoy the actual card game will most likely be not too disappointed with this one.
It can be sad that there is only 4 games in this title but it makes due with what is already has quite nicely. And one of THE best things about this game that gives it quite a nice flavor is the ''Suprise Twists''. What are these ''Suprise Twists'' you ask? While you play any one of the games (especially Black Jack) people come up to you for various favors of different sorts. Whether it be stock offerings, marriage proposals or other acts of charity. You can end up losing a lot of money or gaining a lot as well. You can't ever be truly sure whether it'll be helping you or making you broke they come in a very nice variety and most definitely gives it a very intresting flavor. It can also be amusingly strange on how certain things like Marriage can happen 5 times in one sitting. (One can almost wonder if Larry King wishes that his marital status was this easy, then again it could explain a few things.)
Overall to wrap it all up I am simply and honestly going to say this. It may not be for everyone so I won't guarentee that you'll like this as much as I did, but chances are you'll most likely end up liking this anyways. So its another great game for the NES that is quite the recommendable buy.
+ Its what got me into playing ''Blackjack'' in the first place and why it is my fave card game
+ The variety of ''Suprise Twists'' give this a very intresting flavor
+ My first and truly best experience with Casino video games.
+ Its graphics and gameplay have very little if any flaw
- Its only 4 games which are Black Jack, Roulette, Slots and Keno
- The music isn't bad its just a bit too tinny at times.
