"Will this overlooked game bite the dust?"

Felix says: It’s time to rock and/or roll with my magic bag of tricks!

Premise:
You take on the role of one of the world’s most beloved felines, Felix. At first you appear to be a normal cat, but once the game starts you realize that you also have the ability to walk and talk like a human being. How a cat was born with a skeletal frame that allowed him to walk upright is unclear, but scientist speculate his mother may have been exposed to extreme radiation. What is clear however, is that you still possess your standard cat powers such as jumping ridiculously high and being able to transform into a tank. Felix is chasing after an evil scientist of some kind, probably to rescue a family member and/or save the world from apocalypse. Felix really puts his ass on the line to get to this scientist so it must be something pretty important…which makes you wonder why they didn’t just call the FBI in to take the guy down. Felix certainly has the influence what with his magical powers and all.

KFF rates the premise as: 5/10

Gameplay:
But what makes Felix the real deal isn’t his human-like traits; it’s his magical bag of tricks which allows him to shapeshift into a variety of seemingly random objects. As he collects more items he slowly transforms into more advanced items until he’s a virtually unstoppable juggernaut. The controls are spot-on and the levels are wonderfully designed. Mountains, deserts, oceans…you name it and Felix will bust out his **** there. Standard 2D platforming but so well polished that you barely notice.

KFF rates the gameplay as 9/10

Graphics:
Well you can clearly see that Felix is indeed the species he claims to be, which is more than I can say for most NES games. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the backgrounds are “lush” as advertised on the box but they don’t make your eyes hurt, which again is more than I can say for most NES games.

KFF rates the graphics as 6/10

Sound:
Well there isn’t much to say about the sound, which may leave some wondering why I included this category. The answer is that I use the same formula for all of my reviews and I’m too stupid to alter it in any way. The sound is standard.

KFF rates the sound as 5/10

Closing comments:
This is a diamond in the rough. It’s a solid gold platformer but unfortunately few have heard of it since Felix has such a poor rapport with the media.
