"Boo! Boo! Why am I not amused by this game?"
Introduction
The Adams Family has been a popular family for American kids. Such as the, well, Adams Family in the 1960s , I believe, and the remake of it in the 1990s. The Adams Family still airs on TV and I think its some what of an wacky show. And now we have YET another TV show translation into video games by some game publishing company. Oh boy. What can I say? Its just another horrible game with the label “Adam family”. If there is any merits in this game, then it is the theme song which is played when you’re engaged in the game.
Game Play
You’re the father in the game. I don’t know what his name is, but he wears a dark suit with a funny mustache. And he smokes a cigar in the game, too. Anyway, this is a side scrolling game in which you walk around and dodge entities that try to harm you in the game. Because this is the “Adams Family” game, there are plenty of apparitions, skulls, creepy plants and giant owls. The objective in the games, it seems, is to exterminate the adverse entities in the game by means of jumping on their heads. That is all. By killing the, you get cash reward. And of course, you have a health bar in the game. If the health bar lapsed into nothing then you have to stat all over again. One interesting note: the plants in Adam Family looks EXACTLY like the ones in Mario. Rip-offs, anyone?
Funny, because this game just plays like Mario. You run around and dodge stuff and try to prevent you’re from falling to the endless pits. You can’t attack in the game, this means that you’re basically defend less. Jumping on the heads does not mea attacking. Because you’re not even equipped with any weapons of any kind.
Graphics
The graphics for this game is fairly detailed. There isn’t anything note worthy about the graphics department … but there are a few things you should note in the game. The character in which you control looks like what he is designed to be: a mustached man with a dark suit. The environment of the game is ok; the house in the game are deteriorating with cracks and peeled painting. The skulls in the game is animated - their jaw moves up and down as if they want to devour you.
Conclusion
*Yawns* this is yet another poor attempt to sell a game using the name of some TV show or a movie. In case of the Adam Family, they’re giving the TV show a bad reputation. I didn’t enjoy this game at all because I have a firm belief that they stole some gaming concepts from Mario. This game merit’s a low rating.
