G.I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor
Review by J J N
"They're back again... god bless these gung-ho joes"
Introduction
Soldiers, you’re no longer fighting in the jungle in Vietnam, like the pervious title, G. I Joe. But rather now you’re projected in the future, or something like that, where you’re fighting at the newly discovered legend, Atlantic. This game is somewhat the same as the other previous title and that there is little to no different to the game play.
Game Play
In the game you get to select a bunch of warriors just like the previous game. Some of the warriors in this game don weapons such as swords, like the character Snake Eye - just like the previous game. While other tot double machine guys such as the other guy, whatever his name is. So you run around in a straight fashion and shoot all the bad guys in your path. Shoot first and ask questions latter. You can even switch from bare hand combat to guns. The enemies in the game are fish, strangely enough, and other soldiers equally determined to kill you. They do this by jumping out of the sky and plunging down at you.
What is cool about the game is that you just don’t work alone but when you press the start button you get to switch character. Not much of a big feature but it is cool to see your comrade fight. Some of the warriors in the game even wield knives, which is cool because you can see them cut up and slash the enemies. Different characters in the game got different attributes such as stamina and jump height and such so depending on the level you best use the character that is approximate for the terrain. Most of the time you’ll be fighting the ruins of Atlantic. Perhaps they’re trying to undiscovered the hidden technology that was lost.
Sound / Music
The sound and music for this game is ok. There you the trance music song that loops over and over in the game in which sometimes it logs into your sub-conscience. Then you have the lame noises of exploding enemies and gun shot.
Graphics
The graphics for this game still remains the same as ever. The pixel is ok, its not that horrible. It uses NES power to generate some graphics that is playable for the gamers.
Conclusion
Again, good for them that they made this game. The story is some what different from the previous title where you’re fighting in the jungle in Vietnam, but now you’re doing some thing completely different. Same game play and exactly the same type of music. *yawns*
