Winter Games
Review by LSU Tiger J
"Urge to kill...risen."
I don't know why I ever bothered trying to be good at this game. To be good at this game, you have to venture through the hardships of rediculous controls, nearly impossible events, and some of the worse audio works you may ever hear in your entire life. Below are the glaringly obvious reasons why you should never even bother with this game.
Graphics (2/10)
Man, the graphics are so terrible. From the mountains in the 'hot dog aerials', the to the extremely ugly lettering and color onto the title screen itself will make you want to put a paper bag on your television set. The guy carrying the ceremonial torch looks like a runaway blockhead from the Gumby series, while all of the backgrounds just aren't done well at all.
Music and Sound (1/10)
There is music featured before each of the four events, and during the intro. They all blow with possible exceptions of the bobsled race, and the lighting of the torch. The majority of it all sounds terribly screechy, and more than half the time they all sound like a crappy combination of actual sounds.
The sound is equally disappointing, except for the gliding of the skates during the speed skate competition event. All other sounds are just as annoying as the music itself, which is another reason never to play this game.
Gameplay (1/10)
Hooooo. This is where the game truly sputters as ALL the events are set onto an 'impossible' difficulty' as the controls are so terrible it's so incredibly hard to get anything to work right.
You go through four different events that are all known as the: Hot dog Aerials (my favorite, bleh), the Ice Skating competition, the speed skating contest, and then there's the bobsled. I'll break down each event starting from my favorite to the least favorite (but don't get any ideas this game is good)
The hot dog aerials require you as a skier to jump off of a mountain, do as many flips as possible before you have to land PERFECTLY to get a decent score. This is one of the easiest things to do in the game, and I found it the funnest.
My next most preferable, the speed skating event, requires you to basically skate to the finish line before the other skaters do. This event is possible to do if you know how to mash your controller buttons right, which might not be the easiest thing to come by. This is even more decent if you get someone to race against you (if your friends are loyal enough).
The next to last event in my liking, the Bobsled event, requires you to navigate down a mountain without crashing into the side, or tipping over. You have to jerk and mash the d-pad in the right directions in order to make it to the bottom to the finish line, which was a very tough, and trying thing for me to do.
The last event, the Ice Skating contest, was the event that truly made me feverish. You have this ice skater, who looks like an ostrich in a skirt, and you have to make her do stupid tricks while listening to the most aggravating and repetitive music ever. Half the time you can't even get any points in this event because of the crappy controllers and near impossible-ness of it all. The only tricks I could make the woman do were fall on her face, or do jumps and fall on her face. The only thing I could probably do right was actually make her turn around.
Replayability (1/10)
Please...don't make me.
Finally....this game is way too annoying, way too ugly, and way too terribly sounding to be even considered to be tried out.
2 out of 10.
