Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Review by DeathXI
"EARTH! FIRE! NOT SO GOOD OF A GAME, I'm sad to say."
EARTH!
FIRE!
WIND!
WATER!
HEART!
GO PLANET!
By your powers combined, I am CAPTAIN PLANET!
Captain Planet, he's our hero, going to take pollution down to zero.
He's our power's, magnified, and he's fighting on the planet's side!
Captain Planet, he's our hero, going to take pollution down to zero.
Going to help him, put asunder, Bad guys who like to Loot and Plunder!
As we all know, that was the theme song to the extremely popular show back in the day, CAPTAIN PLANET and the Planeteers! It was a show about saving the earth from bad guys who were looting and doing other bad things to do to the planet. Now-a-days, Summoning Captain Planet has become a fad.
The show became so popular that it warranted it's own video game. Unfortunately, the game is quite similar to the show, and in my opinion, both are absolutely horrible, looking back at them now, that I'm older, wiser, and less obsessed with super heroes.
GamePlay: 4/10
The Controls aren't very good, and without an instruction manual (if you get the game used) you have no idea what you're doing. Some of the abilities seem to have absolutely no use, and are just there because they were in the show.
You either pilot the Flying ship thing that the Planeteers fly, or you play as captain planet. Either way, the controls aren't very good, and the system isn't good, your health is tied to your power to use your abilities (Earth, fire, water, wind, and heart) and if you abuse your powers, one shot will kill you. If you get hit to much, you can't use your powers.
Story: 4/10
It seems to follow the show, they have the bad guys from the show, doing bad things to the planet, and you have to stop them, it's relatively simple, story wise.
Graphics/Sound: 6/10
The sound is poor, even for it's time, and the graphics are remotely decent, for it's time. A little on the grainy side of things, but I've seen much worse on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Difficulty: 10/10
This game, is extremely difficult, especially if you don't have an instruction manual and no clue what you're doing.
Play Time/Replayability: 0/10
The play time and replayability got a 0 out of 10, for the following reason: It's absolutely NO fun. Video games are supposed to be fun, and a good way to pass the time, I would have more fun if I just started running into my walls until I knocked myself out. It's honestly THAT bad.
I would recommend you do NOT waste even a penny on this game, if you're unlucky enough to ever find it. Find a different NES game, Zelda 1, Mario 1 or 3, or one of the Megaman series.
